A day after making the Bulls' 14-man roster, Derrick Byars was cut as the team trimmed its roster to 13 before tomorrow's opener.
Byars, an NBA Development League veteran, played last season with the Bakersfield Jam. The Jam even sent out a press release announcing the news.
Earlier today the D-League's Web site featured a picture of Byars heading a list of former D-Leaguers to make NBA rosters.
But Byars himself knew he wouldn't be around long because he potentially could push the Bulls into luxury tax territory, telling the Tribune's K.C. Johnson yesterday, "Even though I have the rookie minimum contract, they're not sure how long they want to keep me."
He wasn't kidding.
