NEW YORK -- It is a quiet Monday in Manhattan, with the World Series hype expected to begin flying for real when the teams work out Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees were off Monday, recovering from the six-game battle with the Angels and preparing to face the Phillies. The National League champs worked out at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Charlie Manuel met with reporters but did not resolve the one question he seems to have about his starting pitching -- slotting Pedro Martinez and Cole Hamels into Games 2 and 3. It appears that Northwestern product J.A. Happ, a candidate for NL Rookie of the Year, will work out of the bullpen, as he did in the NLCS.
Projected pitching matchups:
Game 1, Wednesday -- Cliff Lee vs. CC Sabathia
Game 2, Thursday -- Martinez or Hamels vs. A.J. Burnett
Game 3, Saturday in Philadelphia -- Hamels or Martinez vs. Andy Pettitte
