Scottie Pippen tells Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix that the Lakers could make a run at the 1995-96 Bulls record of 72 wins in a season.
"The Lakers have a chance," Pippen said. "They have the luxury of a young center like [Andrew] Bynum, a young power like [Pau] Gasol and even Josh Powell is a guy who deserves minutes. They have a lot of depth. If anybody can challenge [the record], it's them."

I'm not sure about that, Lakers are in a tough conference. Bulls were in the East, along with an expansion team that year.
