Lovie Smith will address the media at 3:45 p.m. to discuss Sunday's 45-10 implosion against the Bengals. The head coach also has to explain what's going on with defensive tackle Tommie Harris.
Harris, who apparently sat out Sunday's game to rest his sore left knee, told the Tribune in an e-mail Friday night that his knee was not the issue. When asked to explain the situation, Harris responded in a message, "Nah, talk to the Bears. ... Talk to the organization."
When pressed in an e-mail about why he wouldn't play Sunday, Harris said it was because of his "sphincter," which all but nullified any validity to his original claim.
Harris refused to speak with the Tribune following Sunday's game, saying he doesn't talk after games he doesn't play in. But Harris did speak with a reporter from the Sun-Times Sunday and maintained that his knee was not the issue.
Bears general manager Jerry Angelo, in a radio interview last week, called Harris' knee healthy. But that was before the decision was made to sit Harris against the Bengals.
Smith said Harris experienced some soreness following the game at Atlanta. The thinking was to give Harris some rest and try some other combination on the defensive line, with Harris recording just nine tackles and no sacks through the first five games.

Is it time for Tommie Harris to leave? Yes! You've done nothing since you got your contract.
Why so politically correct? This is so frustrating! In other cities, with other coaches, they say "Tommie has gotten fat, slow and extremely out of shape so we're going to stop running him out there until that changes".
