Moving Gordon Beckham from third base to second base for the 2010 season resurrected questions as to why the White Sox's rookie sensation wasn't moved to shortstop.

General manager Ken Williams, however, maintained his support of keeping Alexei Ramirez at short despite Ramirez's 20 errors in his first full season at a new position.

"I personally thought it was terribly unfair, the criticism (Ramirez) got," Williams said. "Of course, the lapses are somewhat frustrating, but I expect those as a young player. I expect those coming from young players. That's part of the development."

Williams said the decision to move Beckham to second instead of shortstop is "not an indictment on Gordon's abilities. It's moreso a praise of what Alexei can do."
