There was never a question of if, or how.
Only by how many.
The Minnesota Vikings (10-1) had their way with the bumbling Bears (4-7) Sunday, rolling 36-10 at Mall of America Field in Minneapolis. The loss was the Bears' fourth in a row and sixth out of their last seven games. The defeat added another nail in the coffin of their far-fetched playoff hopes.
Brett Favre threw three touchdown passes and the Vikings took advantage of two Jay Cutler interceptions to coast to victory. Jared Allen had two sacks and an interception for the Vikings, who won their fourth straight. It is the Vikings' first 10-1 start since 1998.
Favre completed 32 of 48 passes for 392 yards for a passer rating of 112.5. Lance Briggs (knee), Orlando Pace (groin) and Charles Tillman (head) were among the injured Bears.
The Bears grabbed the first turnover of the game when the Vikings' Adrian Peterson had the ball stripped from him by Hunter Hillenmeyer. The fumble was recovered by Alex Brown, but the Bears went three-and-out on their first offensive series.
The Vikings got on the scoreboard first at the start of the second period. Favre, starting in his 282nd consecutive game, passed 15 yards to rookie Percy Harvin, who made a leaping grab over the middle in the end zone. Ryan Longwell converted and the Vikings led 7-0 after the 96-yard drive.
Danieal Manning returned the ensuring kickoff 44 yards to the Bears' 46.
The Bears took advantage of the great field position as Cutler passed 24 yards to Johnny Knox for a touchdown with 12:12 left until halftime. Robbie Gould converted to tie the game 7-7.
Minnesota quickly answered when Favre threw a flare pass to Chester Taylor, who did the rest by running in for a 10-yard TD play to give the Vikes a 14-7 lead.
Knox returned the ensuing kickoff and was dragged down by Eric Frampton and fumbled. The Vikes Heath Farwell recovered it at the Bears' 31. Bears coach Lovie Smith challenged the ruling that it was a fumble, but the original call on the field stood.
Minnesota converted the turnover into a 52-yard field goal by Longwell to make it 17-7 with 7:02 left in the first half.
Cutler moved the Bears down the field efficiently, but a red zone pass toward Knox was intercepted in the end zone by Cedric Griffin.
Cutler's second interception and career-high 20th of the year came on a pass that caromed off intended receiver Earl Bennett and into the arms of Jared Allen at the Vikes' 39.
Favre added his third TD pass with 17 seconds left until intermission. He passed 6 yards to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe and the Vikings led 24-7.
Favre had 256 passing yards at halftime and their entire offense had accumulated a season-high 312 total yards by intermission.
The Bears wasted a 77-yard kickoff return by Knox to the Vikings 8-yard line to open the second half. The Bears could only manage a 38-yard field goal from Gould after a pair of sacks and a false-start penalty. The three-pointer made the score 24-10.
Longwell answered with a 38-yard field goal with 7:45 left in the third period to make it 27-10. A 22-yard chip shot early in the fourth quarter made it 30-10.
Peterson added a TD run with 6:35 left in the game to make it 36-10 as Longwell's PAT attempt failed.
Minnesota holds an 18-11 advantage in the series over the Bears at the Metrodome since they moved to the indoor stadium in 1982, including three straight victories and seven of the last eight.

Hi, I found this blog post while was searching for family supply related information on bing and found it very informative article, thanks for sharing, keep up to good work.
Thanks for posting this article. I'm unquestionably frustrated with struggling to search out pertinent and rational comment on this subject. Hey Hot Rod!
Since you say "we" all know what Chicago fans are all about then I'm thinking you are not one of us and therefor have no right to badmouth us long-suffering fans. If it were up to us the Virginia and Michael would be forced to sell the team to us Chicago fans,as a publically held franchise, and we would get a top-notch G.M. who would be told we want to put some smash-mouth players out there on that field and then folks like you would have to fade back into the corners or society where you belong.
Jay Cutler is a loser and Bears the especially Jerry Angelo deserves this loser. I can't wait for them to fire Lovie and he can go where there is a real GM and start to win on a consistent basis. With the garbage Jerry has given Lovie to win with over the years, the Bears were lucky to have him. Lovie will prove to be a winner with class and the Bears, Jerry and Cutler will all ways be losers.
I bet you Chicago Bears would still rather have Jay Cutler than Vince Young, but then again I am not surprised. We all know what Chicago fans are about.
Just Kill Me
I dont think you have to worry too much about the Rams. There defense is just god awful and Kyle Boller will never be Brett Favre on 3rd down.
Oh yeah -- call me Mr. INT from now on...
Thank you,
JC
I love myself!

Ok all of you idiots saying " oh we have had injuries and bad luck all year ". You need to go back and watch the game film to all of our loses. After that you come back and post a SERIOUS AND RELISTIC POSt because honestly if you really think it's been BAD LUCK you must be watching these games through RAY CHARLES EYES!!! Your all idiots, we suck, our offense, defense and coaching SUCKS. From top to bottom this team has always been cheap and made bad decisions. Any don't even say " oh we made the super bowl 3 years ago ", hey idiots WE LOST!!!!!!! Oh and before that game we hadn't gotten close since the late 80's. You people that write this crap about the past are complete assholes. This team will NEVER win dick until we have the right MANAGEMENT in place to get the FUCKING players that can make the FUCKING PLAYS to win games. This team is garbage and all you people need to wake up and smell the shit that is coming from Lake Forest. I'm the biggest bear fan out there but when I hear this shit about injuries and bad luck i want to throw myself out of a 5 story window. Like I said this team will never win shit until the management changes and the PLAYERS change because obviously for the past 25 years since the ONLY super bowl we won, WE HAVEN"T WON DICK... Stop the excuses and make the fucking changes needed, were the laughing stock of the NFL and its bullshit. Oh and last but not least I must say thank you to Jay Cutler for doing his best Kyle Orton, Rex Grossman, Kordell Stewert, Chad Hutchinson, Moses Moreno, Shane Matthews, Jim Miller, Erik Kramer, Rick Mirer, Mike Tomzack, Jim Harbaugh and all the other assholes we had at QB since Mcmahon impersanation. Thank you and good night to all...
Hi all --
I am back home in the city that loves me so -- the Windy City!
The punk McDaniels knew I was not long for this league. He knew I would throw more INTs than touchdowns every season. I scammed the Bear's owner and GM. Lovie was clueless. I can throw a nice ball but I always find the other team -- especially in the red zone.
I love you Chicago!

Cover 2 is outdated BUT it only works if you have a relentless pass rush and shut down corners. We have neither therefore, some adjustment should have been made in our scheme."
The only adjustment should be at the coaching level. Why are we running a scheme we don't have the personnel to run? No draft picks and two FA bust on the O-line. Who is looking forward to next season??
Hey Bears fans. My condolences on the losses. My Broncos just came off of a tough 4-game losing skid as well. But at least we got rid of that tool Cutler. Sorry.... it's your turn for "as the Jay turns". He was a loser here as well.
Also, I'm just trying to figure out why the Bears are consitered such a "storied" franchise. They have only been to two super bowls and have won only one of them. My Broncos have been to five super bowls and won 2! Can someone please explain?
does anybody there thinks lovie is footballs image of dusty baker and his softy attitude?
curt0803: My bad, frustration is setting in, I'm not sure about beating the Rams though.
I am true bear fan , but am ashamed of such weak play and why did we hire turner when we fired him before cause he was terrible. Show me a player that wants to hit somebody and then not pick them up afterwards like lovie bear would.
[**holds hands over ears**]
We have to go through another week of useless Bears interviews where they say over and over "we have to step it up" and every other cliche in the book.
did anyone see the Lovie Smith press conference after the game, and if so what did he have to say? I noticed the "official" Bears website still hasn't posted it.
Where are the true blue diehard Bears fans?? Injuries and bad luck -- we're just a few plays away from being a real contender. Have some faith -- Jay and Lovie will get us to the promised land next year. We may not get a top draft, but what about free agency?? Never surrender Bears fans!!
Ok Just Kill Me
Didnt you just make MY point? Minn is better at almost every position including QB I might add!
Heck they were better last year. They won the NFC North didnt they? And that was with Gus Freotte and Tavaris Jackson. They certainly took a step up at that position with the 40 year old dude.
SO I go back to what I originally said...with all due respect to the Saints I think the Vikings are probably the best team in the NFC right now.
This team of girls no longer hits, no longer has fire, no discipline on team,(for example, harris should have been scolded on field after that early ejection), and this is first bears team i've seen in 40 years that are afraid that they might break a nail on the field. Make the coaching change now and start working on offensive and defense scheme for next years team and see who can play it and who can't.
Let's face it, it is time for Lovie to go. He took control of the defense and it has been absolutely terrible. Like Troy Aikman said after the first half, when Lovie said turnovers were killing them, Troy said when your defense gives up more than 300 yards in the half, it's more than turnovers killing you.
COWHER! COWHER! COWHER! COWHER! This staff has got to go BIG time!! Get rid of em!!! fire em now, heck can't get any worse!!!!!!!

He was a defensive back and return man in college, why do they think they could make him a reciever with this rotten coaching staff? Pipe dream and a poor decision by the coaching staff. But, again, one of many poor decisions.
"Maybe so, but they didn't want to piss off the best player on the team. He probably deserved to be paid more than the average return man considering that he was on pace to be the best ever."
This my friend is the problem with the Bears

Curt0803: point well taken, but, here is where I was going. Off/Def line MN, running back MN, at this time QB MN, coaching MN(offensive coordinator way better), secondary MN, wide receivers MN. Don't get me wrong, I am a Bear fan but their front office has done a great jog brining in talent.

Don't mean to BRAG, but I told you SO! Then again, I guess all us REAL Bear fans knew what was coming. All fans know how BAD this Bears team has become except the ONES who are coaching and running this MESS! We all know the procedure the coach will take to explain this poor performance, "We did some good things today, we need to get better, there is still plenty of football left, we need to finish strong, it's not how you start the season, but how you finish...YADDA, YADDA, YADDA..." Pure BULL-CHIPS!! UnlLovie makes NO-ONE on the team RESPONSIBLE or ACCOUNTABLE. I didn't even watch the game here in AZ, but I can tell you this...IT STUNK ALL THE WAY HERE!!!!!!!
Oh Bandit Baby... You just dont worry about Bruno. Jay Jay is going to send his big bad friends Orlando and Frankie over to make everything alright.
I knew it from the beginning of the season the Matt Forte has a injured right foot the one that he injured in the pre-season workouts.
Papa Bear Halas must be rolling in his grave, everything he did for this team his senile daughter has pretty much destroyed.
Hester was going to sit out if he didn't get a new deal. He wanted to be paid like a receiver. It was a tough spot for the Bears. They made the call to pay him like a receiver and turn him into one. By doing so, they ruined him as a return man.

Bladest22, with that thinking, an o-lineman who wants to paid paid like a quarterback gets the position and the coin???? Management made Hester a receiver, why couldnt they cough up the cash for himas a return man?

It all starts with the coaching, you need a good leader to win, and the current staff and management, you dont have it. So they need an overhaul up front. They have a decent receiving core, just need someone to teach them to come back for the ball when the QB is in trouble, and that they may need to lay out for the ball, instead of watching it fly past them. They also need to mix things up, if Forte isnt getting it done alone, platoon with the backs you have, what happened to Bell tonight, one pass thrown to him. I would also say give Hanie a chance , but with the O-line we have, it would just be destroying a another good young quarterback. I am just rambling, but Smith and Angelo make me sick, if McCrapskey is worried about the money they would lose hiring new staff and management, maybe we should boycott them, but being a life long Bears, Cubs and Blackhawks fan, I now this is easier said then done. Him them in the wallet until they bring us the winning dynasty we deserve. WE HAVE PROVED OUR LOYALTY FOR YEARS.
Northside Mike: Were asking linebackers to cover receivers like Percy Harvin? No pressure on wide receivers at the lind of scrimmage? Linebackers in the cover 2 willnever cover speedy receivers.
I don't know what the deal is with Forte. He ran right once today for 6 or 7 yards. So you say, good run, right? Except he had a gaping hole and hesitated (almost looked like a stutter step) right smack in the middle of that gaping hole. It should have been a big gainer. He seems hesitant on every run. Of course, if I ran into a brick wall time after time I might hesitate to run full speed ahead too.
The season's not over yet! If we can run the table we got a chance at the playoffs -- then who knows how far Cutler and Lovie can lead us. We're only a few plays from being 7-4 versus 4-7. However, if not this year, then next. An offensive lineman or two and a good receiver in free agency -- Jay can get us to the Super Bowl next season.
Ok Justkillme ...maybe I was half kidding! The point was that Minn is so much better than da bears that there was never really any doubt about the outcome only the margin of the loss. As for your statement that 'They are not even close competition for any other NFL team' ... I believe that you may find that to be untrue when they play the Rams next week. If they lose to St. Louis I will gladly stand corrected but somehow I think it will be amazing how much 'better' da bears will look playing the Rams (smiles).
Hmmm.. bandit posts at 8:30, and then 30 minutes later Nada Surf comments on the post, probably twice in a row if that Jay Cutler post was yours Nada. Coincidence?
Does anyone know if Forte is left-footed? I noticed today in the game that he is starting his runs off on his left foot where as in the past he started off his right. I think his issue might be that he that he is working off the wrong plant foot. This would affect his timing and acceleration if he is in fact right-footed.
Another thing: I think the Tampa 2 will work but we need to get our LBs a little deeper. I look our coverage, but it seems the opponents are using the refs as picks on our LBs. Finally, I thought Jay looked better today. He had strong throws and stayed locked in on his receivers with good focus. I see a win next week.
Go Cubs.

North Side Mike: I respect your loyalty but with the draft picks we have and the Bears always failing to pay the money for good players in Free Agency I dont see this happening. We need a coach who will dump the cover 2 and put something together that can stop the opposition.
Curt0803... easier said then done... unfortunately this game is a bit more than just playing a good team.. we are still watching our staple mistakes and ineffective cover two defense.. too many wide open receivers in the middle of the field.. lack of pass rush... stupid penalties... poor offensive playcalling and execution... why cuttler is not playing most snaps out of the shotgun at this point is ludicrous...
What could the Bears "O"line expect facing the Williams Wall and the Allen Army. Reminds me of the old "Purple People Eaters".
Just Kill Me....
I am not kidding. The difference between this Bears team and the Vikings is not that great. We need maybe one offensive lineman and one receiver - which we can get in the draft - and turn this into an 11 win team. Seriously. Cutler is that good. Forte is that good. Lovie has a good scheme. I think this team can win.
Go Cubs!
Hey!!!, Denver have better weather, better fans, better views, better looking women........oh yea, and a better QB. Cutler wasn't a winner in college or with the Broncos, and he is a big cry baby. Just look at him sit by himself after he makes a mistake. Now what make's you think Chi-town would be any different for cry baby Cutler??? Orton's arm is not the strongest in the league......but he is a proven winner. Thanks Chi-lites for the songs and thanks Bears for the trade.
GOOOOO BRONCOS
Hey Bandit, its Jay! Please keep talking to me... I cant tell you what I am feeling right now...
It's like a nightmare - it just keeps getting worse and WORSE!
Jay sugar-betes Cutler, the stoop shouldered pouty-faced pick-throwin' morphodite sumbich is starting to look shellshocked after every series, not to mention after he throws yet another interception.
This is $30-50million of OUR cap money I'm talkin' about here, and we keep throwin' it to the lions every week.
This fraud that calls itself a 'professional football team' (we should SUE)
needs to be demolished from top to bottom, starting with the entire front office.
Games should be BOYCOTTed and blacked OUT so that innocent children won't be forced to watch them.
And lastly - it's time to say it - jay needs to grab some PINE! He's so jumpy and scared back there he's become more of a liability than an asset. Sit him for a week or two (he's cap money down the drain anyway)
- put that bald douchebag Orlando Pace out to pasture with Urlacher (the OTHER gold-brickin' bald douchebag)
and s#t-can the entire front office & coaching staff!
This calls for a hard REBOOT - it's going to take 3-5 years to turn this around, might as well blow it up and start now before Cutler's contract runs out.
Boy the donkees really stuck it to us THIS time. They're probably drooling at how the value of OUR draft picks - that they now own - keeps going UP every week.
How did this HAPPEN?????
curt0803: Your kidding right?? They are not even close competition for any other NFL team. Play calling on offense and defense is horrible. The defense plays first and second down respectable but gives up 20+ yard plays on third down? The cover 2 is old and everyone planning against it knows it. If the Bears are running the offense and defense that theyare, it is approved by management. It is a business, a big business and I am an upset "stock holder".
Guys, cheer up. This WILL get better. We have a pro-bowl QB and a coach that got us to one Super Bowl. We can get back next year. With Urlacher healthy and Matt Forte running again we are as good as any team in the NFC. Please do not give up! This team can win this year.
Go Cubs!
To add to my prior post it also doesn't help that our Offensive line can't move an inch to help our run game and can't pass block worth cr*p... Pace didn't provide any resistance to Allen tonight... literally every replay was pace back-stepping fastly into our QB... Too be honest Frank A. may be better at the RT position and then we hopefully can pick up some interior help in free agency... either way our oline experiment this year failed drasticly... back to the drawing boards again..
People keep going on about how terrible da bears are. Maybe we should cut them a little slack and point out that they were playing what arguably may be the best overall team in the NFL right now.
It’s not about the players or the strategy or the coaches any more. It is now up to ownership to make a statement:
1) We are the Chicago Bears, not a circus troup.
2) We will not tolerate this level of performance.
3) We are firing Lovie Smith immediately.
4) Turner and Babich will run the team for the rest of the year.
5) Next year there will be a new head coach.
6) We will review all other aspects of this team.
They need to pay Bill Cowher. The Bears have had Chicago’s loyalty and profits for decades and the McCaskey’s need to show they are loyal to the city.
Blandest22
Unfortunately whoever tries to run the owners out of town would be tackled before they ran two yards! And then there would be some penalty for illegal feathering...
Anybody notice how Viking receivers jump up and haul in tough passes thrown by their 40 year old QB.. Didn't matter how high, low, left/right, or off the pass was... their receivers make plays happen.. This is what we lack... If a ball is not thown to a wide open WR on our team and is not perfectly on the money we can't convert... too many interceptions have been made this year on plays where our WR had just as much right/access to the pass as the DB... For once i want to see Greg Olsen make a play on a ball in the endzone and out jump or out muscle a DB to make the catch... Perfect example was the catch Bernard Berrian made from Rex Grossman in the NFC championship game agains the Saints in 2006... was an underthrown bomb with a DB draped all over him and he came back underneath the DB to make the catch and roll into the endzone... Great individual effort/catch... (another example was the catch Devin Aromashadu made tonight... and why he wasn't playing more is a whole nother post in itself!) Ya Cuttler is supposed to make our receivers better but our receivers have to try and make Cuttler look better too... a True number one at the top of our list in free agench... see ya in 2010
Bandit,
If you don't have ANYTHING football related to say PLEASE SHUT UP! Learn football, find your own man, and then write something constructive!
Bladest22, with that thinking, an o-lineman who wants to paid paid like a quarterback gets the position and the coin???? Management made Hester a receiver, why couldnt they cough up the cash for himas a return man?
I can't completely blame management for the way they handled Hester though. He wanted to be paid like a receiver and Bears wanted to pay him like a return man. They were stuck, so they paid him like a receiver. If they are going to pay him like a receiver they have to play him as a receiver.
Cutler is a walking 30 million dollar mirage. Denver owns your future and Chicago is the new Detroit.
As a Bears fan, my favorite series was the start of the second half when the Bears had the ball at the 8. Second down = sack; 3rd down = sack, but false start; 3rd down again = sack.
Everyone in management should be fired tonight. The owners should be tarred and feathered and run out of town.
our "Tom Brady" or "Adrien Peterson" was Devin Hester as a return man. We outsmarted our little selves and made him into a second rate boring receiver. Can you imagine if someone moved Berry Sanders to receiver full time? Now that we can all see that has been a FAILED EXPERIMENT, can we move him back to the return position to help the offense and win the field position battle? He can start next week, honestly, because he does not need any training at doing what he should have been doing all along. I will continue to dispise this coaching staff until it finally does this most obvious thing, and replace devin with devin aromashudo or whoever they can sign. This was the worst season I have ever witnessed as a bears fan.... can someone please drive me to the bridge so i can jump? Excuse me, I need to vomit now.
THE ENTIRE TEAM SHOULD HAVE JUST STAYED HOME IN THEIR MILLION DOLLAR LAKE FOREST ESTATES! WAKE UP PEOPLE THESE GUYS DONT CARE ITS ALL ABOUT $$$$ THEY STILL GET PAID
This is sad. I think it was clear that the players gave up on the coaches, and I can't blame them. Hopefully somebody in the front office with some power to take actions saw that too.
And one more thing, and is a personal opinion. Is it me or Peanut get's hurt everytime there is a blowout? Seems to me that he doesn't want to look bad and comes up with suspicious injuries. Same thing happened against Arizona, he was been burned badly by Fitzgerald and suddenly he was on the sideline to never return. Not sure if he did the same against the Bengals, but is a weird coincidence to say the least.
I keep hearing about this great Bears tradition. What great Bears tradition. In forty three years they've been to two Super Bowls. They have a below 500 mark in the playoffs. They had one good stretch in the 80's and thats been it. The Bears have been a mediocre franchise for most of their existence.
So what great tradition are we talking about here. Cheapness, bad draft decisions, mediocre coaching, penning pinching management. Milking a few good players .
Sorry you're deluding yourselves when you talk about a great Bears tradition
The Chicago Bears are the worst run NFL organization is sports. (Notice I didn't say "profesional" organization).
As long as the McCaskey's own this franchise they will always be bottom feeders.
The Bears have no offensive line, no defensive line, poor receivers and a secondary that can't cover. The coaching is horrible. They ran off one defensive coach (Riveria) two all-pro running backs (Jones and Benson) and an all-pro receiver (Berrian).
They now have an all-pro QB and they have surrounded him with no talent. Given time, they will destroy Cutler as well.
Bottom line: This is one HORRIBLE organizatio!
What?? We don't have 1st and 2nd round for next year's draft?? GGGGGGGGGGGreattttttttttttttt!!!!!! Thanks, Angelo.
Holmgren for GM, Cowher for Coach.
CA, Badger
^^^^^^^^^^
You wouldn't know a football from your arse by that stupid remark. Lovie can't coach and there are plenty of teams in the NFL that have lesser talent winning more games. Coaching is everything. Being a Badger fan you must know that by now. Ron Dayne Heisman trophy winner... AKA NFL Bust.
Look for the Bears to lose next week to the Rams. They are that bad and hopefully they can reprise a former Mike Ditka statement, "I doubt we can win another game this year."
Bear fans - I am a Packer fan - I come in peace - don't shoot - my hands are up. This Bear coach you have - Lovie Smith is awful. I don't think Cutler is that bad. It's strange seeing the Bears getting pummeled this year - as usually they are a pretty good team. ----but this Lovie is an arrogant, do-nothing smug guy. Get rid of him - shore up the line - and I bet Cutler starts t light it up a little.
Hey Liz, go back to your Cheese Chompin Packer web site and dream of winning the Super Bowl this year...not!! This site is for Bear fans, maybe you could go out and get some deer hunting in or make some road kill stew. You should get some sleep since you have a dentist appointment tommorow and you have to get your one tooth cleaned.

Hey Chicago, whattya say, the Chicago Cubs, er, Bears are going to win today... What a city of losers. Small market teams like the Vikings, Packers, Cardinals and Bengals are loving this season. Oh well, the Blackhawks are looking better, but since most Cubs fans watch the Ice Follies rather than hockey, I guess it doesn't matter. Go Packers!
At least the Bears figured out how to take the Metrodome crowd out of the game...
Should have signed Favre.
Every player on the Vikings team was better than the Bears players except Briggs, Tillman and possibly Olsen. The coaching staff stinks, Angelo stinks, hopeless. I have never seen an offensive line play so poorly since I was at a Pop Warner game five years ago. Great job with Pace, he gets beat every game. How many hurries has he allowed, what about knockdowns. Like the name says, Just Kill Me!!
To Jealous McGarrity......not all Denver fans were upset that Cutler was leaving. I was ecstatic that the immature crybaby was gone. He will never be a leader......before I forget------THANKS FOR THE DRAFT PICKS!!!!!
Bears fans are freakin crybabys. What did you expect this year?? 12-4? or 13-3?? Really? I mean REALLY?? With devin hester, johhnny knox and matt forte slow slew footed ass.I predicted 6-10 or 7-9 luckily for the bears they face the rams and the lions again so they will win 2 more games THEY SUCK you should have known this. SORRY
Did anyone see daniel manning jump over a viking player who was closing in on the end zone? I could have sworn that his job was to tackle offensive players and lay a hit, not jump over them. Even if the td was in hand, a real db would have popped him to try to force the ball out. Also, I loved lovie, but can we fire him now? How much more do we have to suffer with this mess? and angelo and Ted Phillips too?
At least Minn had the sense to sign the Packer Free Agents that Ron Wolfe drafted and signed. They improved, the bears and Packers got worse.
Hey Bears Fans, Trade you Ted Thompson for one of those Ball boys on your sideline???
WOW are we bad. There's no question that Lovie has to go - and we clearly are lacking talent at most major positions. It's dark days for the Bears - this will take years to fix.
If you go look at the Super Bowl roster, you'll realize how many guys we have lost. And we haven't replaced them with better players.
Between Lovie's Cover None Defense. The great offensive planning of Ron Turner - Cutler completes three passes on the first series for less than 10 yards. DumbAngelo's great off season pickups - is there anyone that Pace CAN block? We've already lost our first two draft choices (do we select before Tuesday on draft weekend?) At least the Cubs have "wait until next year", next year for the Bears is already lost.
Virginia, when is the stench going to reach a level for you to actually do something?
Lovie Smith is the dark-skinned version of Dick Jauron - a lifeless mannequin with no passion for coaching or football or Bears fans.
Put Lovie before a firing squad and send him to the Dick ranch where failed head coaches are vanquished forever, never to roam an NFL sideline again ...
Vikings > Bears
Twins > Sox
Oh well.
When I lived in WI I used to listen to WGN after a Bears loss just to hear the Bears fans call in and cry, was entertaining as hell. Hey Chicago, Detroit has a better pro football team than you. The problem isn't Lovie, it's talent. Bad recievers, average or below average running backs. Poor offensive line. Defensive line that has only two very good players, one of which doesn't seem to care too much. Defensive back field that has one player who could maybe be a nickle back in GB secondary, (now that Al Harris is out(. Good linebacking corp, but one of the best is hurt. Decent Tight end and a good QB.
I can sum up the Bears season in a word: defenseless. Until this team changes defensive philosophy, they will continue to get stomped by good offenses. The "cover-2" or whatever it is called is a defense that has never won a Super Bowl and never will. Don't tell me about Tampa's accidental win under Chuckie. That was a fluke. Dungy's Super Bowl win over the Bears was because they ran the ball all over the field against a worthless defense.
Basically what you see in all of these comments is that Bear Fans only saw a winning "program" under the fiery Mike Ditka and they want something like that back. Lovie and Jerry need to go along with the coaching staff but the problem is that the roster is built along fitting a system. Even if they get rid of who we all know they should, it will take a decade to fix what got broken, which is why I won't waste money on NFL Ticket for years to come.
The bears are overrated on defense LOL @ giving up 518 total yards.Until the bears fire lovie smith 1st then angelo they will continue to be a overrated below average team.So far this year the bears beat the lions, browns, seahawks and the steelers barely.LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL It's over.Keep talking about the old ass 85 bears 25 years later bears still have done NOTHING.Why are they on national tv every other week?? THEY SUCK
Breaks my heart to see a once great team full of so much history and tradition be reduced to Sunday afternoon roadkill on a weekly basis.
WELL,,CAN'T DENY IT ANYMORE----

EVERYONE,IN THE ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT FOR A VERY FEW PLAYERS, SHOULD HIDE THEIR HEADS IN SHAME!!!!!!
SIGNED---A VERY,VERY,VERY DISAPPOINTED SEASON TICKET HOLDER
Two words: Offensive Line
Two more words: Defensive Line
The season is over, and it's time to start cleaning house.
There, I said it and got it out of my system...now onto the 2010 season.
Besides an awful O-Line (and I'm a big fan of Kreutz), I don't blame any of the players--there's an awful lot of talent on this team. So to right this ship you need to start from the top and go down, not the bottom up. This entire coaching staff needs to go--from Lovie on down, and while your at it sack the GM too.
The players are a reflection of the people running the team, the ones who are supposed to set the tempo and put the fire into the hearts of the men in the helmets. Lovie roams the sidelines like it's preseason, and his half-time comments ooze of the same platitudes and cliches he's been spouting since the loss to Green Bay in week one.
As General Patton said; "If you can't put some fire into this outfit, I'll find someone who can!"
It's time, Mr. Phillips, to find someone who can.
The Chicago Bears is too storied a franchise to allow itself to be a place where players go to die, or become DOA.
If this atrocious season is not reason enough for the front office to make a change, then standby for an even greater dissapointment as out beloved Bears become the next 0-16 team. But what the heck, the way decisions are made on this team, who knows, maybe that's what it will finally take before some real action is taken to right these inexcusable wrongs.
the vikings got farve, and we got the cleveland[lovie smith] show
So Brett Favre went and made the Bears his personal B-girl for the 18th year in a row...what else has changed? Different uniform, receivers, hair color...but it sure looked liked the same old clueless Bear Defense to me!
I have stopped watching Bears games and will never buy or attend another Bears game until they sell the team to owners that care!!! If PAPA Halas were alive he would have kicked the CRA? out of this bunch of hacks.
I have been a Bears fan for over 50 years and I have been through a lot. I have never seen a team so clueless on how to fix anything and that points directly at the coaching staff and support of what they are doing comes directly from Ownership! They better get their act together or they will become the doormat of the NFL!
Has it finally sunk in yet? Cutler is a born loser! He cost Shanahan his job, and now Lovie 's. Coach Killer Cutler. Until we dump this hugh misteak, we will continue to be the laughing stock of the NFL. Remember during the summer how evetryone said the BRONCOS made a hugh misteak getting rid of Cutler, Well, we got the crap end of the stick. Orton is just fine as a quarterback. He makes only $995,000 per year. Why did we resign Cutler for $30 million? Waste of resources. I say boycott this lousy made in China team. What a ripoff!
I will not start criticizing Cutler until I see him get some decent protection and then he performs poorly. This situation is painful to watch. It seems like the O line hates him and wants him injured.
Come on, guys! Support your team! I'm a woman so you won't believe me but this team is really good (and Lovie is very cute with his little clip board and all).
The Bears will get it together...it's a 5 game season now and I say they will win them all!! Super Bowl wooo!
I can't remember...did Denver get our 1st and 2nd round pick next year? How are we going to get better if we gave up our top picks?
Well, all of you that bashed me for saying that the Bears had a lot more pressing needs than giving away their future for Cutler aren't saying much now are you? A regime change? What GM and what coach worth a damn is going to want to come into this mess? The Bears might as well re-finish the basement of the NFC North and make themselves comfortable, because they are going to be there for quite a while. My God...They are closer to the Lions than the Packers!
team needs a spark !!! a kick in the ass !!
owner needs to make a move, the time is now !!!!
bears forever !! win or lose !!
It is no longer even remotely amusing watching the once great Chicago Bears reverting back to being the wimped-out loser wussies that they were before Dikta showed up and created the legend that was the 1985 Superbowl Champion Bears.
I think it is now high time to give Lovie Smith and his coaching staff their walking papers.
The way Lovie stands there on the sidelines looking completely clueless and possibly comatose really reminds me of a park statue, all he needs is a few pigeons to come sit on him.
We need to draft well, retool and...oh, wait. We don't have ANY picks until the 3rd round next year!!
FIRE JERRY ANGELO NOW!!!!!!
Da Bears brought the Arse and the Vikings brought the Whooping
Lets just focus on next season. BRING BILL COWHER!!!!!!!!!!
WE NEED A COACH THAT GETS EMOTIONAL, TOUGH, and CAN LIGHT A FIRE.
FIRE LOVIE and most of the coaching staff.
JERRY ANGELO SHOULD BE OK FOR THE TIME BEING.
WHEN FREE AGENCY HITS, TARGET WR( A TRUE NUMBER ONE) AND HELP THE O-LINE, GET RID OF URLACHER TRADE HIM WE HAVE NO FIRST OR SECOND PICK SO GET SOMETHING FOR HIM.
BRING THAT DEFENSIVE TOUGHNESS BACK AND SIT CUTLER DOWN AND TELL HIM TO MAN UP AND STOP ACTING LIKE A CHILD WHEN THINGS DONT GO HIS WAY.
I REALLY WANNA SEE REX PLAY IN TEXAS SO WE CAN DETERMINE IS HE AS BAD AS HE PLAYED FOR US. CAUSE THAT COACHING STAFF HAS NO ABILITY TO EVALUATE THE TALENT THEY HAVE NOR HOW TO UTILIZE IT. KALIL BELL'S FIRST CARRY OF HIS CARRIER WENT FOR 72 YARDS.. HOW MANY CARRIES DID HE HAVE IN THE VIKINGS GAME? YOUR STARTING RUNNING BACK HAS ONLY 8 CARRIES THE ENTIRE GAME, AND WERE SUPPOSE TO BE A RUNNING TEAM? WE PROBABLY LEAD THE NFL IN PENALTIES SO WE HAVE NO DISIPLINE.. UNPREPARED EVERY GAME AND OUT COACHED WEEK END WEEK OUT......I AM A CHICAGO NATIVE AND A LIFETIME DIEHARD BEAR FAN and IM TELLING EVERY1 THAT WILL LISTEN THAT IF LOVIE AND HIS CREW IS AROUND NEXT YEAR because of moneys owd to him when we as fans r the ones putting that same money in their pockets,THEN IM BECOMING A VIQUEEN, I MEAN VIKING FAN UNTIL THAT POOR EXCUSE FOR A COACHING STAFF IS GONE.... IM GONNA EVEN BUY A VIKING JERSEY, CAUSE DA BEST FANS IN DA NFL DESERVES A WINNING PRODUCT... NOT THIS POOR EXCUSE OF A TEAM!!!!!!!! SAD TO BE A BEAR FAN TODAY.....
Jay Cutler was the missing piece three years ago. He'll be fine over time but the rest of the team has crumbled. Moving Hester to receiver defeated the offense. His stats are meaningless. When he was a great return man, he gave the Bears special team scoring and a short field which improved the whole offense. Urlacher was a big loss but put him on the field healthy this whole season and the Bears win maybe two more games.
I didn't want to depress my friends who are Bears fans when they got Cutler with reality, but this is actually worse than I expected.
Angelo is no good. Lovie is no good. His staff is no good. Bad players expose bad coaches and bad management.
They can't cover, can't tackle, can't block, can't catch, they can't even report in as an eligible player.
Lovie Smith looks totaly lost on the sidelines.
Jerry Angelo believes any position can be filled with any body -- until he overpays for Cutler.
This is the team I have followed my entire life.
So here's the big question - You're about to face the Bears. Who scares you? Who do you have to spend extra practice time on to negate? Answer - no one.
The is no one on the Bears that any team has to worry about.
WE have years to wait. Thanks Virgina
We need a major overhaul all the way around. Start with Turner, he couldnt coach Illinois, he cant coach the Bears!
Boy, we sure are lucky that Lovie took over the defenesive play calling this year. Man, would we suck without that mastermind.
And don't forget how much better Rod "Mr. 0-16" Marinelli made the D-linemen. How bad would the line be if Lovie's buddy wasn't handed the job?
The absolute worst coaching staff for a team not named the Raiders in the NFL.
If Lovie Smith starts next season as head coach, it is being done for all the wrong reasons.
I sure hope that Lovie and his entire coaching staff got a chance to visit that mammoth mall while they were in the State of Minnesota this week............at least then they could have gotten some Christmas shopping done (these coaches are still receiving paychecks, right?)and the trip then wouldn't have been totally worthless. Every time I look at Lovie and/or Angelo, as a 50+ year Chicago Bears fan, I just want to hurl, barf, upchuck and vomit. This is just so, so wrong......keeping these two "Architects of Disaster" around ............I really feel sorry for all 53 members of the 2009 Chicago Bears roste.........really, really sorry.
The only way the bears had a chance is if 1/2 of the Vikings would have got H1N1 at the same time.
Go back to the days of the Staleys. In fact go back to before their was a league. Disband the bears. The league doesn't need one non competitve game after another.
It is hard to believe we now have the Babich era to look back upon fondly. If Lovie will just go back to Gilligan's Island and let us move forward, perhaps we can save Cutler yet. As it is, we will be singing the virtues of Wanny and Jauron for years to come.
Hey Cutler just a little free advice, when a quarterback 100 times better than you like McNabb takes time after a game to stand there and talk to you maybe you should listen, he knows how to win games whereas you suck something horrible. Guess after last week you didn't learn anything.
Some of you guys are punch drunk.
Keep Lovie? He's a great coach? Are you serious!!!
This team is horrible, and it is the coaches fault! He makes mistakes that only football people notice in addition to the mistakes that the average fan makes.
He does not understand the momentum of the the game nor how to use it. He is not a motivator of men and it shows.
He cannot teach his defense how to tackle or ID when to break coverage and cover the big threat.
He refuses to fire Ron Turner who sucks even though he fired Ron Rivera who was pretty decent.
What good deed has Lovie done that is not out-weighed by two negatives?
Cutler is not the problem. The O line is the problem, the reason that Cutler has no time to pass, and or is beat to the ground on nearly every pass play, and why Forte can't run much either. Fix the O line, replace the Offensive coordinator. Hire Shanahan and solve these problems.
Let's see, Cutler "wins' one game sometime in mid-season and then the Bears organization signs him to an extended contract worth, let's see, somewhere close to $30 million.
Was this the best investment?
Perhaps the Bears organization should have given that $30 million to Bernie Madoff!
"Must Win" game vs Texans last year that would have got us into the playoffs - we flopped.
"Must Win" game vs Vikings today per Lovie - we really flopped.
Most yards given up in 27 years by the Lovie Smith controlled defense, but at halftime, he throws Cutler under the bus and blamed the pics??
"Greatest Offseason Acquisition" Marinelli leads us to another zero sack game. Just like Detroit. Nice guy - talks a lot - no results - loser. We must have the least effective D-Line in football. And, Gaines Adams?? Thanks Angelo.
Could have had Loadholt, but we drafted 2 guys instead who never play. Thanks Angelo.
Lovie has lost the team.
Assistants are terrible.
Angelo's moves are terrible.
Get rid of them!
Two more interceptions for Miracle Boy Cutler! Blame everyone but Jay, Bears fans, but the truth is that Cutler is a loser. You can keep kidding yourselves but the Broncos played you for a bunch of country hicks.
This mess begins with Lovie Smith and his superiors who support him. When Lovie took over the team, he said he was going to build a quick, athletic team (read small) that excels in creating turnovers. Goog football teams are built from the inside out, not the outside in.
As much as I have always admired and respected Mike Ditka, I disagree with his statement about statistics being for losers and cowards. During Lovie's first five regular season years, the Bears were outgained by 3,135 yards. They averaged 280 yards per game. Their opponents averaged 320. The Bears outgained their opposition 27 times. They were outgained 53 times. I prefer a team that pounds the opposition as opposed to a team that bends, breaks and depends on Tillman strips or Hester returns.
At least I have a little good news. Plenty of 9-7 teams have made the playoffs and we are only through the third quarter of the third quarter, right Lovie?
Fire every coach when they have a bad year. The fan base in Chicago are crazy. The Bears' division was bound to get better. The Bears do not have a running game. They do not have an offensive line. They have receivers that are in developing stages. There defense has fallen apart. This is not about bad coaching or even effort. The Bears have been out manned and outgunned. It is that simple.
Lovie has got to go.....he's made a debauchery of the Bears.
Guys, patience. The Bears played great but had a few unlucky breaks go against them today. The OL played pretty well. A 9-7 team usually makes the playoffs each year, and I bet it will be the Bears this year. Lovie is a GREAT COACH, and he'll turn around things for sure. I really hope that Ted Phillips stands at the Mic tomorrow and anounces contract extensions for Lovie, Jerry A. and Orlando Pace. These are 3 hall of famers and guys I want on my team!
Thx Chicago. Winning money in Vegas is very easy these days. You guys have the odds makers fooled beyond belief. Thanks for rolling over and giving an even larger spread than the one predicted. Easiest thousand I ever made.
Please keep Lovie, Turner and Angelo as long as possible.
It's clear Lovie Smith has lost this team. There is no accountability. The Tampa-2 has been figured out. Lovie stubbornly thinks that his sacred defense still works despite week after week of evidence to the contrary.
A great example of what is wrong with this team occurred early in the game when the Bears were in the red zone. FOX happened to show isolation shots of all 3 Bear receivers, and all 3 ran to their spots and stopped dead. None of them bothered to look for an opening to help out their QB.
Cutler is having a bad year, no doubt about it. But Cutler is one of the few people that can make throws like the TD to Knox this week and to Davis last week. This team would most likely be 2-9 if it was still Orton back there.
Next year...
If you don't like Cutler's play, imagine how things would look with Peyton Manning, Drew Brees or Tom Brady. Think things'd be better? I don't. Orlando Pace is going to the Hall of Fame? My God, will they completely ignore his 2009 season? He's worthless. As to the great pro bowl center Kreutz, this guy gets pushed around all the time, but he acts tough so everybody thinks he's great. This entire line stinks. On the defensive line, tell Tommie Harris he only plays the weeks after he plays well. Play bad, you sit a week. Ogunlaye, good-bye.
The commentators even said the cover two dont work
I think we played well. I think we can make the playoffs. I think my job is secure. I think Jerry Angello is doing a great job. I'm glad we were able to add an 0-16 coach to shore up our staff. I think Cutler is making everyone forget about Rex Grossman.
"We will all be at least 3 years older by the time this mess can be turned around."
That is the only reason why I would hesitate to replace Lovie. A new coach might take a few years to get his system in place and get his players. I hate to watch this garbage for another 3 years.
You guys don't have the worst O-line in football. The Packers do and we are still cleaning your clock. Also, despite our horrible O-line, Rodgers is still one of the top three QBs in the NFL. Your problem is that you have a bad O-line and a VERY BAD QB! And your coach sucks. And your RB sucks. And your whole team sucks. And your National League baseball team sucks. The Brewers have won more playoff games than the Cubs the last couple years. You just SUCK!
Glad to see that the Chicago media and many of the so called true fans are finally showing up to the Fire Lovie Party. This guy is a total fraud and this is by far the worst NFL coaching staff. You can blame Angelo all you want, but you are not going to tell me that this offense if worse than the Cleveland Browns. 2 yards in the 2nd half? You have to be kidding me.
Losing is one thing, but to lose in this fashion is ridiculous. Giving up more yardage than we have in the last 428 games? 2 yards in the 2nd half? Smith should be fired the minute he walks off of the plane. I wonder if he should get off the plane running?
Its hard to through the ball on your back.Wies would do better then turner.
Damn, we really suck....Football starts in the Trenches, our Offensive Line is horrendous they cant block anybody 1 on 1. We cant get 1 yard running the Ball, Cutler has 1 second to find an open Guy. Our Defensive Line is no better, Farve has 3,4 to 5 seconds to find and open reciever. There were plays were ther is no one with in 3 yards of Farve. I am so sick of our Defense the past 3 Years. Lovie and his whole Staff must go.....Trust ME he says after firing Rivera after going to the Superball
TRUST ME, SORRY NO LONGER YOU MUST GO and take that cover who with you!!!!!!!!
Tough to be competitive when you give up 537 yards.
Nice defensive game plan.
Yup.
So, tomorrow you'll hear Lovie calm as can be on the radio and TV saying how disappointed he is. When you listen, please think of this recitation from a famous movie:
"Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it."
We will all be at least 3 years older by the time this mess can be turned around. A defense that's starting to age, an offensive line that's also aging, no 1st or 2nd draft picks, and an inept Gm and coach. Time to trade any older player with trade value so that when the new GM and coach come in they'll have something to rebuild.
Its a sad day when the Bears are consistently getting blown out...... these games are not even watchable.... they look like the worst team in the NFL right now.....
Is there any doubt the Bears have the WORST Offensive line in all of Football. Also the defensive line is very BAD.
Also can someone please explain why the Bears can't cover anyone on 3rd & Long. The receivers are WIDE open everytime! But without an Offensive line that can block someone we will never see a deep pass again the rest of the year. I hope Cutler survives. Rex would have been in the hospital 4 games ago.
Mckasky wont do anything more than Poppa Halas would have done, the tickets have been sold and the money is in his pocket. Wake-up fans! You have been had and your stupidity keeps you paying for second rate coaching and old players. Remember the 85 Bears? Their lines were like family. The defense used to be in competition to get the the QB. The offense wouldnt allow sacks. Poor Cutler is on his back everytime he throws a pass and the linemen are not getting their uniforms dirty.
Thank God for the Blackhawks, Bears SUCK!!
Let me predict Lovie's post-game comments. I like some of the things we did out there...we've got alot more games to play...we'll take a look at what we did and do them better next week...uuuhhh and the injury report blah blah blah...same thing every week. Someone wake up Virginia and tell her that Sweetness isn't playing anymore please....
Coach killer I COULDNT HAVE SAID IT BETTER........... FIRE THAT COACHING STAFF, FIRE JERRY ANGELO, HELL WE AS BEAR FAN FIRE U 2 U BLEEPING McCASKEYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, any bets that Lovie is let go before the season's end? Sad team. No fire. No consistency. Nothing remotely challenging from the sidelines. I live in Chi, but not from here and have been there, as a Pats fan when we stunk out the league. It's time for wholesale changes on the team and even a healthy Urlacher can't help this woeful team and he's getting old, btw.
See ya Lovie...
A pathetic performance (with few exceptions) all the way around. The team appeared leaderless, like a bowl full of Jellow sloshing around in a typhoon. What kind of changes will the Bears make -- or -- how high up the food chain will the firing take place? Don't forget, Jerry Angelo is the GM who was hell-bent on hiring Nick "The Gypsy" Saban as head coach.
Lovie isn't the only problem. Your President's qaulifications is that he was the team's outside accountant and Angelo has not done a good job, either with draft picks, in letting players walkin signing free agents and in extensions to current players. Get rid of both.
How many more beatings like this do we have to take before the owners realize how bad Lovie and his staff are getting drastically out-coached every week..... from stupid coach challenges, to not being able to adjust in-game, to not being capable of implementing 21 st century defensive or offensive schemes, to not knowing how to evaluate and utilize the talent they have, to not being able to fire up and motivate the players, to not keeping the players accountable...........
I could go on and on. The Bears are not as bad as they look. They need a different coaching staff and they need it quick.
PS - Did anybody see Lovie do anything (say anything) the entire game???????????
Hire Charlie Weis as offensive coordinator for next season!!!!
Bring back the Honey Bears and let them play. Somewhere Walter Payton is shaking his head.
2005 = refuse to double Steve Smith. 2009 = refuse to double team NFL sacks leader. Backup TE one on one with Allen? Please.
The Lovie era is over. He has officially been tuned out. 4 straight "must win" games have yielded no heart, discipline, creativity, or any signs of actual preparation.
The talent is subpar in the trenches, due in large part to Lovie's perception of the roster. "I like the players we have." When commentators are pointing out that your organization's management has an inflated opinion of the talent, it's time to get new evaluators of talent that will hold their players accountable for performance instead of the same old Monday morning spin.
I don't think they need "fire and brimstone" or any crap like that. They need a staff that will maximize the talent they have, that will recognize weak spots and plan around them until filled, and will actually game-plan for specific opponents instead of running the FB swing pass and -2 yard screen straight out of 1995.
Nice job, Bears. Once again, you let the Packers down. Now I hope you lose the rest of your games. Because you SUCK! And your savior quarterback REALLY SUCKS! And Lovie just sleeps on the sidelines. Nice team, Chicago, nice team.
wow!!!!!!thats all i can say just wow!!!!!!! We Really Suck
Trailer Trash.
Oh look another Bears implosion and Cutler playing like Cutler.
