Bears finally starting to pull away from lowly Browns

By Vaughn McClure

There hasn't been much reason for the fans to celebrate Sunday afternoon, with the Bears basically sleepwalking through their game with the Browns. Yet the Bears showed enough life in the third quarter to put distance between themselves and their lowly opponent.

Matt Forte's 10-yard touchdown run put the Bears up 23-6. It was set up by another turnover created by Danieal Manning, who followed up a first-half interception with a strip and fumble recovery.

Despite the comfortable lead, the Bears still have areas of concern. The Browns continue to knock quarterback Jay Cutler around, and Cutler continues to get attention from the medical staff. Newly inserted left guard Josh Beekman allow Cutler to get driven to the ground by Shaun Rogers.

And punter Brad Maynard, usually reliable, had a 12 yard punt that allowed the Browns to score their first touchdown. Ouch.
