Bears lose DeAngelo Smith off practice squad

The Bears have an opening on their practice squad after the Detroit Lions today signed DeAngelo Smith to replace injured safety Marquand Manuel, who was placed on injured reserve.

Smith, who was drafted in the fifth round out of Cincinnati by Dallas last April, was among the Cowboys' final preseason cuts and was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns and later by the Bears. The Bears waived him and then re-signed him to their practice squad last month.
