No. 15 Michigan 83, Creighton 76 (OT): Manny Harris had 20 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds to lead the No. 15 Wolverines to an 83-76 overtime victory over Creighton at the Old Spice Classic on Thursday in Orlando, Fla.
"Not disrepecting the other two teams we played, but that was kind of our first challenge," Harris said.
Harris had a three-point play and a dunk as Michigan (3-0) went up 76-73 with three minutes left in the extra session. He picked up an assist on Zack Novak's 3-pointer that made it 79-73.
"That was a big game for us, to come out against a team like Creighton," Novak said. "It's a good program. To be able to get that victory early over a team like that I think is going to help us."
No. 16 Minnesota, No. 10 Butler: Damian Johnson scored 18 points as the Gophers upset Butler in the first round of the 76 Classic tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Minnesota (4-0) shot 50% (25-50) from the field and nailed 9 of 19 three-point attempts.
Marquette 71, Xavier 61: Lazar Hayward scored 27 points and Jimmy Butler added 15 to help Marquette beat Xavier at the Old Spice Classic and remain undefeated.
"My teammates do a great job of finding me in good spots," Hayward said. "I just try to do the best I can to take the best shot."
Marquette (5-0) scored 25 points off 20 Xavier turnovers.
"It was a game of runs," Marquette coach Buzz Williams said. "I think we've been an extremely unselfish team."
