Listen to the Blackhawks on WGN-AM
It was a relatively healthy Blackhawks team that took the ice against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night at the United Center.
With forwards Jonathan Toews and Ben Eager returning to the lineup after recovering from concussions, the Hawks had a spark early but the Kings withstood the strong start and the first period ended with no score.
Cristobal Huet was solid in goal for the Hawks, with his best save coming after defenseman Brian Campbell made a bad pass and put the puck right on the stick of Kings winger Alexander Frolov in the left circle. Huet halted Frolov's shot from in close.
The Hawks' best chance came when Patrick Sharp grazed the crossbar with a shot from a tough angle midway through the period.
Toews missed six consecutive games and Eager 13 in a row before playing Monday night.
Center Dave Bolland missed his second consecutive game with a back injury.
