VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Playing the second of back-to-back games and with their backup goaltender manning the net, the Blackhawks faced a few hurdles Sunday night in their quest to run their winning streak to seven games.
As they've done in every game so far halfway through their six-game road trip, the Hawks cleared every obstacle placed in front of them and defeated the Vancouver Canucks 1-0 at General Motors Place.
The victory improved the Hawks to 3-0 on the trip, 15-5-2 overall and 5-3-1 on the road.
Antti Niemi got the start in goal to give starter Cristobal Huet a rest and was brilliant as the rookie out-dueled Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo to record his second shutout of the season.
Bryan Bickell, who has shuttled back and forth between Chicago and Rockford, scored 1 minute 12 seconds into the third period to provide the offense for the Hawks
