LOS ANGELES--The Blackhawks have one regulation period remaining in their six-game road trip and if they want to match the 1990-91 squad's record of five wins they'll have to get on the offensive.
The Hawks trail the Kings 1-0 after two periods in front of a crowd of 18,118 at the Staples Center. Wayne Simmonds scored early in the second for the lone goal of the game. Simmonds worked a nice give-and-go with Michal Handzus and beat Hawks goaltender Cristobal Huet with a backhand from the crease.
Jonathan Quick has been solid in goal for the Kings, halting prime second-period chances by the Hawks' Troy Brouwer and Kris Versteeg. He also denied Patrick Kane on a scoring opportunity in the first.
