Bulls' Hinrich doubtful for Bucks game

Wearing a splint on his sprained left thumb, Kirk Hinrich skipped today's practice and said the injury would have to significantly improve for him to play Monday against the Bucks.

"It's still really sore," Hinrich said. "I have trouble gripping. It doesn't feel strong."

Hinrich is scheduled to visit a specialist Monday. An MRI performed on Friday confirmed the ligament isn't torn. Hinrich tore a ligament in his right thumb last season that required surgery, and he missed 31 games.

"I'm pretty confident it's not going to be long," Hinrich said. "Hopefully, I'll make some progress here in the next couple of days and get back out there."

The Bulls play the Pistons at home on Wednesday. Ben Gordon has been sidelined with an ankle sprain, but if both players are healthy, the former teammates will be matched against each other at times.

Hinrich originally suffered this injury during last Wednesday's practice in Oregon.
