What a week for Tyrus Thomas.
The Bulls said the fourth-year forward injured his left arm Friday morning during the weightlifting portion of practice. When reporters were granted access, team officials said Thomas went for X-rays after practice. Those results aren't yet available.
"Hopefully, everything is fine," coach Vinny Del Negro said. "I'm not even exactly sure how he got hurt yet. But he tweaked his arm a little bit and he's pretty sore."
Del Negro said Thomas' availability for Saturday's home game against Charlotte would be made on Saturday. Either way, rookie Taj Gibson again will start at power forward.
"I want to see what the doctors say and how he feels," Del Negro said. "I think he was doing a pull-up. It's unfortunate."
The injury comes on the heels of Thomas overcoming a two-day absence with the flu to play 12 minutes Thursday night in Cleveland.

We are going to be seeing a lot of Gibson, Thomas is having surgery on his arm to repair the fracture. Might even be a Johnson sighting.
I think when speaking of Bulls players "blossoming" elsewhere they are talking about Eddy Curry, who was going to be a MONSTER once he left Chicago. Now he is dead weight in NY.
Or maybe Tyson Chandler, who had one good year as a Bull, then another good year as a Hornet but in both cases he was shipped out after a less than solid year.
Or maybe Jamal Crawford, who was traded from the Bulls, Knicks, and Warriors all while they were in the basement. He seems to be doing well as a bench player with Atlanta, so good for him. But not a world beater by any stretch.
Maybe it's Roger Mason, whom the whole league passed on but seems to be doing well as a 7th or 8th man for SAS.
Ben Gordon is getting his wish to be top scorer on a team with a losing record and a likely first round exit.
So we don't know who it is that flourishes after leaving the Bulls. Whomever is in disfavor with Bulls coaches and management I guess.
Someone should teach Tyrus the pump fake and tell him how to jump stop and shoot a 8 ft. shot
"To Idiots"... That is such a long list of Bulls players who have gone on to "blossom" somewhere else. Who???
seriously..i dont ever want to hear from you guys on how we should draft so and so based on his potential. what is the point of drafting a project if youre not going to give him a chance to develop? you can pretty much count tt as another guy who leaves chicago and blossoms somewhere else. then were going to hear from the same idiots cry about how our players always go to a different team and performs at a higher level. chicago media. chicago fans. all the same. idiotic.
I'm sure Del Negro is happy he doesn't have any choice but to start Taj Gibson, who by the way is a bench player tops.
Tyrus probably hurt his elbow after blocking Gibsons shot with it.
I love how people Tyrus haters hear about him getting an injury and act as if his mental capacity had something to do with it. Seriously??? Do bulls fans ever look at there draft picks and offer a vote of confidence??? Derrick Rose will probably be the next bulls draft pick to be called out for not being perfect.
I think he banged his head a few times on the pull-up bar.
Reply to Enrique: You obviously haven't seen Taj play. Four years of Tyrus...he's been given more than enough chances, and all he's proven is his selfishness, immaturity, and erratic play. Face it Tyrus can't cut it as an nba player.
Someone please tell me why Taj Gibson played 35 minutes last night and Miller and Noah played under 30 minutes? Why is this kid who's nothing but a role player getting the benefit of the doubt? Wow i mean, this bulls organization gives up on players too quick, they dont let their kids play and in the case of Noah, they dont give them the playing time they deserve. I dont care if we won last night, if we're going to let Tyrus go, i want him to play huge minutes to see what we actually have in him.
What a nutball!! This guy must have taken stupid pills recently. Reminds me of that other nutball who used to play for the bears and got injured by tripping over his dog.
