SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Already flying high with a seven-game winning streak entering their game against the Sharks, the Blackhawks welcomed star winger Marian Hossa to their lineup.
Hossa and the Hawks thoroughly dismantled the Western Conference leaders 7-2 on Wednesday night to record their eighth consecutive win, including four to start their six-game road trip. The Hawks improved to 16-5-2 on the season while handing San Jose its first loss at home this season.
Hossa, who had shoulder surgery shortly after signing a 12-year, $62.8 million free-agent contract, scored two goals as the Hawks left little doubt they are now the team to beat in the conference -- and possibly the league.
The Hawks tied a team record with three short-handed goals, including two during a three-goal second period that broke open a close game. Troy Brouwer, Hossa and Patrick Sharp all scored with the Hawks down a man.
Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Seabrook and John Madden scored while at even strength, Duncan Keith added three assists and Cristobal Huet was solid in goal to win his seventh start in a row for the surging Hawks.
San Jose finally solved Huet with a goal while skating with a two-man advantage with just under four minutes remaining in the third on a goal by Dan Boyle. Joe Pavelski added another score for the final deficit.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves ...
Hawks haven't won anything yet. I'm still not sure their defense and goaltending are Cup worthy.
But 'Go Hawks!'
What a way to start the season. this is our year baby!
I remember dreading the 'circus trip' every year as the best the Hawks would usually do on the trip was .500. This year they are making the trip look easy! To think a few years ago the Hawks were-under the ownership of Dollar Bill, a joke. Now with Rocky wirtz the franchise is the class of the league. Hey Bears and Cubs! This is how a franchise should be run!
The Hawks ARE who we thought they were...crown their butts now!!
