CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Bradley Beal, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Chaminade High School in St Louis who was being recruited by Illinois, made a verbal commitment today to attend Florida.

Beal, ranked as the No. 7 prospect in the Class of 2011 by Rivals.com, also was considering Kansas and Missouri.

Nothing says other topped rank programs didn't try. The article indicates the final ones he was considering were Illinois Florida, Kansas & Missouri.

If this guy is #7 where was Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse and other perpetual top ranked programs? Something seems fishy and maybe it's not so bad that Illinois lost out.
