DePaul's nationally-ranked women's basketball team suffered a blow on Tuesday night when scoring leader Deirdre Naughton was injured and departed midway through the first half of their annual non-conference clash with Northwestern.
Naughton, a senior guard averaging 17.5 point per game for the No. 15 Blue Demons, crumpled to the court as she positioned herself near the Wildcat basket with 9 minutes, 15 seconds left in the first half . She spent the rest of the game on the bench with her right knee taped and iced.
Northwestern, which had suffered 10 straight losses to DePaul since 1998, held a 47-39 lead with 6:34 remaining in the second half at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
