SALT LAKE CITY -- The Bulls have tipped off against the Utah Jazz and they are playing without key backup Kirk Hinrich. The guard injured his left thumb in a physical practice Wednesday and will be evaluated Friday in Chicago.
The Bulls' depth was bolstered by the return of center Aaron Gray.Gray has not played a game this season since suffering a stress fracture in his left leg.
The Jazz were missing key reserves C.J. Miles, Ronnie Price and Kyle Korver. That left the Jazz with exactly one guard on their bench: rookie Eric Maynor, who is averaging 6.2 points per game and 3.3 assists while filling in for former Illini great Deron Williams.
