SAN JOSE, Calif. -- It took Marian Hossa two shots to score his first goal with the Blackhawks.

Making his debut with the Hawks following offseason shoulder surgery, Hossa scored on a short-handed breakaway early in the second period to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead over the Western Conference-leading San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night at HP Pavilion.

He also scored in the third period with an assist from Brent Sopel and Patrick Kane.

Hossa signed a 12-year deal with the Blackhawks in the offseason worth $62.8 million.

With Troy Brouwer in the box for boarding, Hossa poked the puck from San Jose's Kent Huskins. It went to Jonathan Toews who then found a streaking Hossa, who skated into the Sharks zone and rifled a shot past goaltender Evgeni Nobokov.

It was the Hawks' second short-handed goal of the game after Brouwer opened the scoring in the first while the Hawks were down a man.

Later in the second, Patrick Sharp scored the Hawks' third shorty of the night to make it 3-0. That tied a team record of three short-handers in one game. Steve Larmer, Dirk Graham and Adam Creighton last accomplished the feat March 14, 1991 at Los Angeles.

Hawks will not Loose a nother game this season

WE WILL ALL STIPULATE OF COURSE THAT THE VICTORY OVER THE SHARKS WAS A TOTAL TEAM CONTRIBUTION, BUT FOLKS, YOU GOTTA KNOW THAT HOSSA'S GOALS AND ALL AROUND PLAY LOOKED TOTALLY EFFORTLESS. I WOULD ASSESS THAT IN NO WAY COULD ROCKY WIRTZ MAKE IT HOME AFTER WATCHING THE GAME, WITHOUT BEING OFFERED A BUBBLY, ER TWO BY HUNDREDS OF FANS, ALL OF WHOM HAVE TO BE INEBRIATED BY AMAZEMENT AND JOY, FOR WHERE OUR ICE BOYS ARE TODAY, AFTER UNFORTUNATELY BEING CAST INTO THE DESERT FOR 45 YEARS. MOST OFTENELY, IT IS SAID THAT THE OFFSPRING DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE, BUT IN THIS CASE, THE OFFSPRING GOT AN AXE, AND CHOPPED DOWN THE "DUTCH ELM" TREE AND REPLANTED ITSELF IN WEST COAST REDWOOD FORM. AND FOLKS, WE GOT SOME REDWOODS OUT HERE THAT ARE OVER 300 FEET HIGH AND 50-60 FEET IN DIAMETER !!!

As dominating a performance against a good team as I've seen in years out of the Hawks. Hossa, Toews, and Kane were as Foley put it "like the Harlem Globe Trotters" while playing keep away with the puck.............GO HAWKS!!!!

I watched every minute of this game ! It was like a book you couldn't put down ! I just couldn't believe it was really happening - beating the #1 team in the league again ! I'm putting a red Hossa jersey on my Christmas list ! Go Hawks !

WOW! This was a completely one-sided game. It didn’t look like the Sharks had an off night; the Hawks were simply dominant throughout the game. The team plays like the Red Wings of a couple years; skate fast and pass, pass, pass. Given the age of the players, this team will be in finals for many years to come. “… There’s a shot, and a goal.”

With Hossa now, this team is stacked. A 7-2 win over San Jose at the Shark Tank is the equivalent of the Bears going up to Minnesota and beating the Vikings 40-10 at the Metrodome.

Let's go Hawks! Time to break that Cup drought.
