LAS VEGAS -- Utah had left the floor, Illinois remained, hoping that Shawn Glover's last second field goal would be overturned by the officials and the game would go to overtime, but the waiting only delayed the inevitable.
The referees ruled the basket good, and Illinois lost to Utah 60-58 thanks to Glover's last second shot after blowing a 16-point halftime lead.
Glover's shot came off a pass from Jay Watkins, who had rebounded a miss from Demetri McCamey with the score tied at 58.

Bruce Weber was outcoached in the 2nd half, Illini were out rebounded again, Demetri MCCamey took too many of the Illini shots so other team could key on him and ignore other Illini. Utah did what Illinois should have been doing in the 2nd half, drove the ball for layups when outside shot wasn't falling. Seems they drove the lane mostly uncontested repeatedly too. Utah just wanted it more and their coach had them fired up and playing smarter than Illini. For Illinois, live by the outside shot, die with the outside shot. No excuse not to defend the lane and get rebounds. Once again Tisdale was no force inside.
