In what could be interpreted as another sign that Marian Hossa's surgically repaired shoulder is on the mend, the Blackhawks winger will serve as the Fire's honorary flag-raiser on Saturday before the team's MLS playoff game against New England at Toyota Park.
Hossa underwent rotator-cuff surgery on his right shoulder in July, shortly after signing a 12-year free-agent deal with the Hawks. He returned to practiced and skated with the team for the first time on Oct. 16, and the Hawks are hoping he might return to action by the end of the month.
As part of his flag-raising duties, Hossa also will lead pregame cheers for the Fire, which dropped the first game of its playoff series against the Revolution 2-1 last Sunday.
