NEW YORK -- Giants ace Tim Lincecum has won the NL Cy Young Award, becoming the first repeat winner in the major leagues since Randy Johnson was voted the prize four straight times from 1999-2002.
Lincecum led the NL with 261 strikeouts and tied for the league lead with four complete games and two shutouts.
Lincecum split two games against the Cubs this season. He won 6-2 on May 5, allowing two runs in seven innings against a makeshift lineup as manager Lou Piniella chose to rest most of his regulars. On Sept. 25, he lost a 3-0 pitching duel to Carlos Zambrano, who fired a two-hit shutout.
Only 10 points separated the top three in one of the closest ballots in the award's history.
Lincecum received 11 first-place votes, 12 seconds and nine thirds for 100 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter was next with 94 points and teammate Adam Wainwright finished third with 90 despite getting the most first-place votes with 12.

He won the Cy Young award two years in a row? How is that possible? It's well known that he's a marijuana smoker. Doesn't he know that marijuana ruins your life and everyone around you? Just look at Michael Phelps, he's a pot smoker it limited him to only 8 gold medals. Lincecum should be in jail with all the potheads. They're spending their money on nontaxable non prescription drugs, which are taking money out of the hands of the drug companies and causing the recession.
