Third-quarter impressions from the Bears' game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, with the Bears leading 20-17:
*The Bears opened the third quarter with that same tired side screen pass to Devin Hester that never seems to gain any yards. And seeing Jay Cutler on his back after a third-down sack by Trent Cole was the last way the Bears wanted to start their initial drive of the second half. How about going downfield against the Eagles' banged up secondary?
*The Bears nearly turned the ball over twice. Kahlil Bell almost fumbled and Cutler nearly got picked off by hobbled cornerback Sheldon Brown.
*At least the pass rush remained consistent, as a Lance Briggs added another sack to the two the Bears recorded in the first half. And Tommie Harris put a hit on Donovan McNabb on the very next play, just for good measure.
*The Bears recovered from a bad defensive play that allowed McNabb to find DeSean Jackson for a 48-yard touchdown. Cutler responded with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kellen Davis as the Bears finally got it right in the red zone. When Cutler connected with Matt Forte on a two-point conversion pass, the Bears increased their lead to 20-17.
No one knows better than the Bears how much they need to win this game. Let's see if they can close it out.

I very much appreciated your writings and sharing your thoughts to everyone. I expect more articles to read for the next time.
If the Bears don't get rid of the two coaching clowns, I'll become a viking fan, until they do. Ron Turner has No more business calling a football game than Santa Claus. I might take Santa Claus as my coach before Mutt and Jeff Lovie Turner. When announcers can tell you the QB's strength, shows how inept those two are. Vanderbilt has been a below average college team for many years, so why is there more Vandy players on the Bears than any other collrge? Is Lovie the one who picks the team or the GM? Ron Turner Thank you for ruining both of my favorite teams in the past 10 years.
Wow. Cutler is ridiculous. Three overthrows to wide open receivers. Two TDs given away.
Sad
and why were at it lets get rid of that piece of crap jay cutler. we gave away way to much for this worthless qb.
Sorry Bears fans -- I threw yet another game losing INT. Call me Mr. Interception. I screwed over the Broncos and now I am screwing over the Bears! Haha! The joke is on you Chicago! I suck and I know it but I still have over $20M in the bank so who cares -- I am set for life and I just care about ME! and my INTs!
Please get rid of Ron Turner. Hire Charlie Weis, someone who knows a pro offense.
The Bears gave up a lot for the next Rex Grossman.
why do the Bears need to win this game? the team is terrible, and their season is over. they're not going to win this game. fire Angelo and fire Smith.
