DENVER--The already short-handed Blackhawks have suffered another setback as center Dave Bolland won't play against the Avalanche tonight at the Pepsi Center.
Bolland missed most of training camp and one game during the regular season, Oct. 8 against the Red Wings, with a bad back that has flared up again. Coach Joel Quenneville said Bolland is day-to-day but for the Hawks, this has to be a concern as the problem isn't going away. Bolland has two goals and four assists in 13 games this season.
Jonathan Toews and Ben Eager remain sidelined with concussions. Bryan Bickell was recalled from Rockford of the AHL earlier Friday to replace Bolland.
Antti Niemi will get the start in goal for the Hawks..
