SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Charlie Weis began his Tuesday news conference reminding everyone that there is a Notre Dame football game afoot, wondering if he might be able to talk about that.
And then he refused to talk about anything else.
Weis would not answer any question pertaining to an incident outside CJ's Pub early Sunday morning in which starting quarterback Jimmy Clausen, according to sources, was punched.
The South Bend Tribune reported Tuesday that Clausen's girlfriend was pushed, which led to Clausen pushing an individual who then delivered a punch to the Irish quarterback around 2 a.m. Sunday
"It's Stanford week," Weis said, when asked why he declined to answer questions about the incident.
He did say Clausen will be at practice Tuesday and available to play at Stanford this weekend.

Seeing that N.D. can't improve their football program, they should attempt to improve their academics. Then they can join the Ivy league where they might win a few more games.
Well Well

Wow...the coverage of this is totally slanted. The Tribune make it seem that Clausen was responsible??? They don't even mention that it was the fan who stareted this! So I guess LaGarrete Blount was justified too in punching that guy from Boise State. Tribune, I am glad you are bankrupt.
The guy who puncched Jimmy is no fan.
Jimmy had a good game.
I don't like ND being 6 and 5, but hitting a player is uncalled for. I just hope Jimmy does not let this get to him and comes out a year early, the team will need him next no matter who the coach is.
