SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Disaster averted... unless disaster isn't averted.

Despite taking a tremendous hit at the end of the third quarter, Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen returned to the field on the Irish's next possession, following a punt by Navy.

Clausen appeared to be knocked unconscious on a scramble toward the end zone. The junior lay on the field for several moments, then walked very slowly off the field and to the sideline.Notre Dame's medical staff was examining Clausen on the bench as the fourth quarter began.

Navy's Kevin Edwards collided with Clausen as he raced toward the end zone on a first-down play from the Navy 9-yard line. Making matters worse, Clausen fumbled on the hit, with Navy recovering at its 1-yard line while holding a 21-7 lead.

Go Irish Beat Stanford!

jimmy clausen = amazing qb

charlie weis = terrible terrible coach

i feel sorry for clausen

jimmy clausen is an awesome quarterback, he can throw across his body off balance and get it there. his receivers just keep dropping important balls. next year the receivers will be better and everyone will see how great a passer clausen actually is. if jeff semarcha was still there you would see how great clausen throws.

Charlie will most likely be unemployed very soon also. That's what happens to bad coaches like he and Ty. Regarding your other comment, this is clearly not the forum for that discussion. That is why I ignored it. Why did you ignore my question about Ty's UW record? Perhaps it didn't fit neatly into your political rant? This is a football blog. If you have anything intelligent to add in that area, we would be interested in hearing it.

Willingham always beat Navy, Charlie loses to Navy, and USC, and Michigan, and others. Willingham was respectful, Charlie is a jerk. Willingham was fired, Charlie keeps his job. Willingham is black, Charlie is white.

Do the math.

I find it interesting you reacted to my comment on race, but said nothing about priests abusing young boys. Are you like most Catholics who seem willing to give priests who abuse young boys a pass?

Hey seminary-trained ex-catholic:

Was Ty black when they hired him?? Was ND racist when they hired him? You shouldn't accuse an institution of racism when you are ignorant of the facts behind his dismissal. By the way, he led Washington to a four-year descent into incompetency, culminating in an 0-12 record last year, after which he was fired. Good man, bad coach. Does that make UW a racist institution also?

You may not like the irish or may even hate them. That's fine. I respect that. But don't you dare insult our religion by making stereotypes that show your stupidity and ignorance!!! The sad this who ever the moran was that wrote this probably won't see this and will continue to think that what he wrote twice(moran, like I said) was actually amusing. Attack my team, but don't attack my religion!!!

I really feel sorry for you "ND Sucks."

Show them your rings Jimmy! Don't they know you've already beaten at top 50 team?
