There is good news, bad news and no news on the injury front for Notre Dame.
Backup quarterback Dayne Crist still has an MRI scheduled for Monday to determine the extent of damage done to his right knee late in a 40-14 win over Washington State on Saturday, with Irish coach Charlie Weis feeling slightly better about it than he did after the game.
"We're cautiously optimistic that it's not as bad as we originally thought it was," Weis said Sunday night. "We're keeping our fingers crossed on that one. He was tested (Sunday), and the knee was a lot more stable than we thought it would be... There's a chance it will be better than we throught it would be, but we'll wait for the test."
That, of course, doesn't mean Crist will have a clean bill of health. Neither does starting guard Trevor Robinson, who has a low-ankle sprain that may cause him to miss the Navy game this weekend.
"He'll miss some time," Weis said of Robinson. "I don't know if he'll play this week or not. Today, Sunday night at 8 o'clock, I'd list him as doubtful. But there's a big difference between a low-ankle sprain and a high-ankle sprain."
Weis added that "things looked pretty good" with defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore, who also suffered an ankle injury and walked off the Alamodome turf with ice swaddling his right foot and ankle.
As for the long-awaited CAT scan results on receiver Michael Floyd, Weis said he will receive those on Monday night and update Floyd's status at his press conference Tuesday.
