Notre Dame senior Luke Harangody was the top vote receiver in the Associated Press' preseason All-America team.

Harangody, a 6-foot-8-inch forward, decided against turning professional after considering entering his name in the NBA draft after his junior season and is likely to break Notre Dame's points record set by Austin Carr. He needs just 738 points to break the record and is 370 rebounds shy to pass Tom Hawkins as the Irish's career rebound leader.

He averaged 23.3 points and 11.8 rebounds last season, making him the only player to rank in the top 10 in both categories.

Harangody, who received 57 of 65 votes from a national media panel, topped the team that also is comprised of Kansas' senior point guard Sherron Collins and center Cole Aldrich. Kansas is the preseason No. 1 team.

Collins, a Chicago native from Crane H.S., and Aldrich are just the sixth set of teammates selected for the preseason team.

The team also included forwards Patrick Patterson of Kentucky and Kyle Singler of Duke.
