Good news on the Northwestern injury front:Coach Pat Fitzgerald said that X-rays taken on the right hand of quarterback Dan Persa came back "clean." Fitzgerald said he is "optimistic" that Persa will be able to play Saturday in Champaign but won't be certain until later in the week.

Starting QB Mike Kafka, who passed up scrambling opportunities at Iowa because of a left hamstring injury, is feeling substantially better than one week ago. Will he be able to rush the ball at Illinois?

"We expect Mike to be able to run our offense," Fitzgerald replied.

NU's Nov. 21 home date with Wisconsin will kick at 2:30 p.m., a rare non-morning start for the Wildcats. The Ohio State-Michigan game is set for 11 a.m.
