NFL.com reports: Former Bears defensive end Richard Dent is among 25 modern-era semifinalists announced today for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He amassed 137.5 sacks and recorded double-digit sack totals eight times over a 10-season span that included career-high 17.5 sacks in 1984 and a league-leading 17.0 sacks during the 1985 Super Bowl season. He ranked third all-time in sacks behind only Reggie White and Bruce Smith when he retired.

The 4-time Pro Bowler and 2-time All-Pro Dent was drafted by the Bears in the 8th round of the 1983 draft.

The Class of 2010 will be determined at the Selection Committee's annual meeting on Saturday, February 6, in South Florida the day before Super Bowl XLIV.

Dent deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Hopefully he won't be the Bears version of Ron Santo. A player who deseves it but gets denied year after year.

why? the natural human impulse to want someone whos talents you admire to succeed and receive accolades for said talents. how empty, sad and pathetic does a life have to be to sit in front of a keyboard and rip people who want others to receive awards theyve earned and deserve?
you truly can't comprehend why?

ludicrous.

Still can't understand why he's not in the Hall yet. His numbers were huge for the era, and his career sacks position behind White and Smith at the time he retired SCREAMS - not speaks - volumes of his pass-rush talent. I know he wasn't the best against the rush, but it would be an injustice for him to get passed over again.
