Some scouts say Mark Teahen is more comfortable at third base. (MCT)

Three talent evaluators each endorsed the White Sox's acquisition of Mark Teahen, especially since he will return to third base.
"That's where he should have been," said one National League scout who has followed Teahen from his days in the minor leagues with Oakland. "You'll see his numbers improve."
One scout, however, threw some caution to the deal because Teahen has struck out 123 times or more in each of the past three seasons with Kansas City.
"Fields is an interesting guy because he does have some power and might do well as a platoon player," the scout said. "I don't think the Sox will miss Getz that much. Teahen needs to put the ball in play more often with that lineup and lack of power right now. I do think he'll make their overall defense better at third."

This is a player worth having on anyone's team. Perhaps not at third--maybe in right? Good gap hitter. Shouldn't strike out as much here as he won't have to be the run producer--just keep an inning going.
More interested in beefing the bullpen than anything else with the Sox. Rumor mill keeps adding position players. Where are the set up men coming from 'cause right now...we have squat after the starters.
Pretty sure that Jenks is going to be gone too. Really worried about the pitching. Does anyone remember the A's before the first baseball strike? Their starters were piling up complete games and innings like no one before or since...but the A's knew there wasn't going to be a full season.
Our starters may have to do the same with this bullpen.

Baseball Jones tells it like it is. Right on the mark !
Experts are often wrong. In 2008 they said we weren't going into a recession. In the 80's they warned us of an impending Ice Age and now they plan to tax us to death over Global Warming. It's no different in baseball. GM's, scouts and managers are wrong all the time. Baseball is not an exact science. As for the Teahen trade I will wait and see no matter what the scouts say. It could turn out to be a decent trade. I'd rather have Teahen at third than any other position, and hope he can cut down on the K's. It seems to me that Kenny is trying to low budget his way back to the playoffs and I'm not sure the Sox have enough talent to pull it off. Teahen coming through would be a big help, no doubt about it.
I also find it amazing how an average joe fan is so deluded into thinking that somehow all of the baseball they watch gives them more than enough information to make such intelligent statements about professional baseball talent...and the scouts and GM's who eat/sleep & drink this stuff for a living, and have seen players in person and broken down on tape...well they don't know what they're talking about, HUH? Get a grip, please.
Teahan is an above average defensive thirdbaseman. Some people who think he isn't haven't seen him play third much. Yes, i have seen him play alot. Offensively you'd like to have more power at third, but the combination of Teahan & Beckham is better offensively than the combination of Getz & Beckham.
Who cares is a clueless wonder to contradict Major League Scouts and astute baseball people as Kenny Williams is. Some of these negative naysayers continue their sadist life with glee over bashing people in the know much smarter than they would ever be about what they are doing.
Oh yeah and you know more BAD MOVE..get back to your checkers something you know about chump !You will see Teahen with a .280 avg., 35 doubles and 16-18 Hr and plays a very good 3rd. Strong "D" at every infield position.. Sox need lead-off batter and help in Pen and will be ready to go toward goal of winning AL Central with the strong starting rotation and Big Bobby back in his closing groove.
I'm glad the scouts think this is such a good trade. Maybe they can convince me that a strikeout machine who fields poorly at every position he's played is going to help lead the Sox back to the promised land.
I'm glad someone likes this trade..
Then Again Teahan is more of a gap hitter, which the Sox do desperately need, instead of a guy popping up with runner on trying to be Babe Ruth...
Tim:
Getz has absolutely zero power and I don't mean home runs. I mean doubles and triples which Kenny is emphasizing this year. Plus he has defensive positioning issues which he showed this year and his arm isn't that strong.
Not trying to run the kid down, those are the facts. Like the scout said the Sox won't miss him.

Ummm...........I don't see all that much of a positive in those comments.
Is he a gold glover at 3rd? If not, how much better will he be there than Beckham with a little more experience under his belt?
Given that his SO/W ratio not only is more than 3 to 1, but has gotten worse each of the last 3 years, I don't believe that it's anything like a sure thing that his offensive contributions will be worth more than the speed they are losing, including a possible 40 stolen bases in a full season by Getz.
