Former Cubs broadcaster Chip Caray, who came under fire for inaccurate calls during the playoffs in October, has called his final baseball game for TBS.
Network spokesman Jeff Pomeroy said today that TBS and the announcer have decided to part ways.
A son of late Braves broadcaster Skip Caray and a grandson of famed former Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray, Chip Caray had called first-round playoff games for TBS during the past three seasons.
"Since the end of the 2009 MLB Playoffs, we've had several discussions with Chip Caray regarding 2010 and beyond. Both sides agree that now is the right time to move ahead on different paths," the network said in a statement.

Chip Caray is not only one of the worst announcers to ever work a booth but one of the most grating and obnoxious as well. His father Skip was one of the best ever.
Regardless of who replaces Chip Carey, the odds have increased considerably that I won't have to hit the MUTE button on my remote during playoff games.
Oops ! "Chippy" fell in the chipper !
I always liked Chip. I thought he and Steve Stone did an excellent job broadcasting Cub games.
TBS played some good ole country hardball right here.
Quite obviously, Chip Caray has been fired. (to quote his favorite line)
Now if TBS, FOX and all the others would stop those annoying noises between every pitch, we'd all be so much better off.
Chip Carey was terrible the entire post season he called the Ryan Rayburn throw home in the one game playoff a hit before he caught the ball. He also kept screwing up Orlando Cabrera and Melky Cabrera when he said Orlando was playing on the Yankees!!!
Chip always has had a forced delivery that is extremely annoying. He just can't help but try too hard. He can't just talk in an everyday, natural manner. He substitutes regular baseball words for weird, fancy ones. He's many notches below his late grandfather and quite a few below his late father. He's been really lucky to have that last name
good 4 TBS
If Chip is making bad calls, he can always get a job with the Southeastern Conference as a football ref?
Inaccurate calls? He can get a job with Fox Sports. Or he is qualified to be a major league umpire.
Not sure why Chip has so much difficulty maintaining employment. It must be something from a personal standpoint, as i think he is, and always was, a good play by play guy.
As you can all see, that Chitown nut guy has several different names on here.
And,no, the Sox don't want Chip Caray, unless he's replacing Farmer.
