All was quiet Sunday in the Notre Dame football offices, but indications are that Charlie Weis' five-year reign as Irish coach could end as early as Monday.

The South Bend Tribune reported that although Weis did not go to the office like he usually does on Sundays, he was scheduled to huddle with athletic director Jack Swarbrick in a meeting that likely could seal his fate at the school.

The Irish took Sunday off after returning on an early-morning flight following a 45-38 loss Saturday to Stanford. The South Bend newspaper cited a source as saying that no action would be taken regarding Weis' status before Monday and that, contrary to a published report, Weis hadn't already cleaned out his office.

Meanwhile on Sunday, the college-football revolving door started spinning in earnest.

Stacy Adams stepped down as Valparaiso's football coach, a week after the Crusaders finished the season 1-10.

"I certainly did not meet my own, nor the university's expectations as head coach," said Adams, 15-40 in five seasons as head coach. "If I can't do that, then I want to allow someone else the opportunity to do so."

Adams joined the Crusaders as an assistant coach in 1991 and became offensive coordinator before the 1997 season. He was a member of the coaching staff for Valpo's Pioneer Football League championship teams in 2000 and 2003.

Also today, Virginia fired coach Al Groh after nine seasons (59-53). Groh guided the Cavaliers to five bowl games, including four straight beginning with his second season. The team averaged eight wins over those four years, but managed just one more winning season in his last four, going 9-4 in 2007.

Marshall coach Mark Snyder resigned on Sunday, a day after the Thundering Herd lost 52-21 to UTEP to finish the regular season at 6-6.

Snyder, who went 21-37 in five seasons, said in a news release that he made the decision after meeting earlier in the day with athletic director Mike Hamrick.

LSU assistant coach Larry Porter has been hired by Memphis, replacing Tommy West, who was fired Nov. 9 after nine seasons. West coached the Tigers (2-10) the rest of the season, which ended with a 33-30 overtime loss at Tulsa on Friday.

No word yet on Florida State's Bobby Bowden, who has 388 career wins in 37 seasons.
