ESPN.com reports: Vikings coach Brad Childress has been rewarded for guiding Minnesota to an 8-1 start and a firm hold on first place in the NFC North.
Childress has reached agreement on a contract extension that will keep the coach with the team through the 2013 season, a source told ESPN.com today.
Financial terms weren't immediately available, but it is believed to be between $4 million and $5 million a year, the source said. In 2006, Childress signed a five-year, $10 million contract, which was scheduled to expire after the 2010 season.
