SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Another eviscerating loss, this time a 33-30, two-overtime Senior Day broadside by Connecticut, almost assuredly signals the imminent end to the Charlie Weis era at Notre Dame.
Weis, however, declined to mull his future after the game Saturday, saying he was more concerned with a downtrodden group of Irish seniors he'd just left in the locker room.
"Today is not the day for me to reflect on things like that," Weis said. "Today's the day for me to be worrying about those 33 (seniors). I feel absolutely miserable for those 33 guys. ... I come in here and start talking about me, I'm barking up the wrong tree, because those guys are the guys I should feel for today.
"I'll worry about me tomorrow. But I think today I should be worrying about them."
Weis' usual day-after-game news conference is set for 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

We are ND! Weis, you are included in that. Do the right thing and step down. You said on day one that 6-5 wouldn't be good enough for you. You've been given 5 years.
We are ND!
Good to see the holier than thou Notre Dame apologists are out in full force. Yah, our standards are much much higher than those of Stanford and Northwestern, etc.. Sure dey are.
Keep on using dat excuse, people still fall for it.
Somethings never change.
Speaking of which, don't forget a generous donation in your collection plate tomorrow. My legals bill are growing faster than Charlie's waist.
I am a senior at Notre Dame...the fact you are comparing Notre Dame's athletics to any other school is pathetic. We graduate our athletes (in 4 years). Our athletes go to class and pass those classes at one of the best schools in the country. Football players at other schools (Tennessee, Oregon, etc.) participate in robberies, fights and still make it on the field. You can say Charlie Weis needs to be fired. You can't deny we have high standards for our athletes who understand they go to school for more than just football.
Look any one who thinks ND is a player is living in the past. When Lou left it was because ND decieded to be an academic school and not a football school. We all can see the results from the past 20 years, we are not a football powerouse and never will be again as long as we have the same academic standards for the football team as the rest of the school. This is fine. We need to get a grip on who we are, Whoever the coach is will not achieve the sucess we have had in the past. It is that simple!! We can all cheer for ND moving forward but until the AD will change the standards that is who we are!!
Inviting Obama did not take away the Catholic institution, it was the institutional acceptance of abuse, hypocrisy and lies which destroyed any legitimate claim to being religious, better for all that ND join the MAC, they might actually have a competitive football program and the arrogance of Catholic righteousness might give way to real charity towards others.
Father Jenkins took away the Catholic institution with inviting Obama as an Honorary Degree and now Charlie took away the pride of a great independent football team. It is obvious both of their plan is to make ND a non denominational school and to have a recreational football team that may be able to enter the MAC or an Ivy League division.
Not to worry Charlie. Hey look at me, Im still here in Michigan.
lolconn
I watched very carefully the Friday and Saturday preparations of both teams for the past 4 weeks. Noticeable was that on gameday CT was there over an hour ahead of ND and they were professional ready. ND players sauntered in the stadium late and with little energy. It was obvious as Jimmy Clausen and Charlie went in the stadium that this ND team is just not mentally ready for Division 1 football. All the other teams going in to the stadium were ready. Watched Navy, Pittsburgh, USC and I noticed the same mental energy. The coaches of the opposing teams are fit, in shape and motivational. Charlie has many health problems and I will predict they are high cholesterol and I would bet Memorial Hospital thinks he is a heart attack candidate, he is obese and has bad joints and a failed fat reduction surgery. This is a man that needs to go get rehabbed and get healthy. He will die on the field at this rate.
For his own good, it is time for ND to honor his original press conference that his current record is "not acceptable." He will get millions in pay so he should gracefully resign and support another leader of ND because he wants the best for ND. He has plenty he an do in the future and Hannah's future is now taken care of.

Charlie still give Notre Dame a competitive advantage.
Keep him for another year.
We're doing as well as we can expect.
