SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- One swing of C.J. Retherford's bat propelled the Peoria Javelinas to the Arizona Fall League championship Saturday.

The White Sox infield prospect cracked a 1-0 fastball over the left-field fence in the bottom of the eighth for a two-run homer that gave Peoria a 5-4 victory over the six-time champion Phoenix Desert Dogs.

"It's a great way to end the year," said Retherford, who drove in three runs and scored twice. "There's nothing that could be better."

The hit ended a long season for Retherford, who led the minors with 46 doubles last summer and hit .248 in Arizona, including a home run off Stephen Strasburg.

"Now it's time to rest up, let my body heal and get ready for spring training," Retherford said.

Sox third-base prospect Brent Morel went 2-for-4 and scored a run, and outfielder Jordan Danks was 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.
