White Sox resurgent leadoff batter Scott Podsednik and Ramon Castro filed for free agency Thursday on the first day eligible players can file.
The Sox retain exclusive negotiating rights to these players during a 15-day window that ends the evening of November 19.
The Sox have yet to make a formal announcement on right fielder Jermaine Dye, who can become a free agent if they decline a $12 million option and give him a $1 million buyout.

He was healthy in 09. Long term, how about one year, will that do? Suits me if he can perform like he did this season.
Larry:
Podsednik's history is one that he can't stay healthy over an extended period of time and can't put together consecutive good seasons.
He's in his mid 30's to boot. It's not that the Sox are treating him badly as you infer, it's that in fact, he's not the long term answer to their nagging leadoff issue.

How can they treat Scott Podsednik like their doing????? If it wasn't for him the Sox would have been out of contention in June if it wasn't for Scott's appearance. I don't understand - you gave him a chance and he ran with it!!!! We would love to see him resign - he showed the fans that he is sincere about competing. But instead we go and trade Getz for Mark Teahan who is not even .300. Getz is a young upcoming player.
