Like Rex's career, condo price headed south

With the Arizona Cardinals coming to town this weekend, it's somehow fitting that Rex Grossman's name surfaced in local news reports today.

The much-maligned former Bears quarterback has reduced the asking price for his 36th-floor unit in Chicago's Trump International Hotel and Towers from $2.35 million to a much more reasonable $2.295 million. He bought the two-bedroom, 2,437-square-foot unit two years ago for $2.68 million.
It was a 2006 game against the Cardinals that marked the beginning of the end of Grossman's Bears career. The Bears carried a gaudy 5-0 record into the Monday night showdown in the desert, but Grossman couldn't stand the heat. He threw four interceptions and lost two fumbles, but the Bears somehow rallied from a 20-0 second-half deficit to prevail 24-23.

They managed to score only three points on offense, but used two fumble-recovery touchdowns (by Charles Tillman and Mike Brown) to get back in the game won it on an 83-yard Devin Hester punt-return TD. Afterward, stunned Cardinals coach Dennis Green could only sputter the immortal line, "The Bears are who we thought they were!"

Fast-forward three years to this Sunday: Grossman now rides the bench behind Matt Schaub for the Houston Texans, while the Bears are led by heralded franchise quarterback Jay Cutler. Grossman's condo might be his sole remaining link to a city that pinned its Super Bowl hopes on his right arm, but was quick to turn on him when things went sour.

Who writes this garbage?

That is hilarious!

"Hearlded QB Jay Cutler"

Rex Grossman through 9 games in 2006 had 14 TD's and 10 INT's

Through 9 games this season, Cutler has 14 TD's and 17 INT's

Wow, uhm, I'm a big Cutler fan, but I'm also a Rex fan.

Rex in 2006, had a better half-season then Cutler is right now.

So get off this "heralded" QB stuff, Rex in 2006 had a better season so far than Cutler.

So now we have a QB who throws 8 INT's in 2 games. Yeah, he is great compared to Rex!

ha, wow.

Do you know anything about these two QB's?

Thank god we don't have a quarterback like that anymore, who'd have a brilliant game one week and throw a bunch of picks and fumble snaps the next week. Oh...wait.

Thats Some Reduction! LOL

The reason you only drop the price a little bit, is to get it re-sent out to everyones searches set up in the MLS system who is looking in that price range.

ITs the oldest trick in the book.

They know if someone wanted it, they would probably make an opening offer of $1.5M

Thats what I would suggest if I were the buyers agent.
