Brian Kelly's new Notre Dame staff reportedly will be without one of the best recruiters from the previous regime.
Corwin Brown -- the ex-Julian High School star who was the Irish's defensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008 -- won't be retained by Kelly, Brown told Irish Illustrated today. Brown was an effective recruiter, but the spiral of the Irish defense over the past three seasons likely meant the end for his stay in South Bend.
"I'm just cleaning out my office," Brown told Irish Illustrated. "I had a good time here. I've got a lot of good memories. It was a true learning experience."
Notre Dame could release the names of the assistants retained by Kelly later today.

If Brown was such a great DC then why did they need to bring Tenuta in to take over the defense. Brown wasn't getting it done. I doubt if he would have been retained even if Weis wasn't fired.
I have faith that BK will be able to recruit without the likes of Brown and even Aienello (sp?). He brought kids into Cincinasty, I'm sure he can convince them to go to ND.
Mama's calling, Cornflakes. Talk to Rodriguez. Let's get you back to coaching the good guys. Go Blue!
I think losing Corwin is a big loss for Notre Dame it won't surprise me if alot of the recruiting class this year de commits. Corwin was a coach who could relate to todays athletes, and its funny how many talked about the defense but don't remember when Corwin was coordinator the Irish had there best defenses under Weis. If I'm a school looking for a great recruiter and players coach I would hire Brown in a heart beat. I hope him the best and I very sure that the Irish will miss his presents.
Here is the deal, Corwin Brown was brought in to help recruit Chicago Public League players, Robert Hughes and Isaiah Williams come to mind.
The CPS students have not lived up to the hype, pretty much have been non factors, and I think losing him will not hurt Chicago land recruiting.
The players that have mattered, as of late, on ND from the Chicago area are the kids from the Catholic League and the surrounding suburbs.
So, there is really no loss with not retaining Brown, he was not a good DC, at least at ND, and he did not hit the mark with any of his recruits from this area.
obviously corwin brown was not an effective recruiter. ND fans have memories of him also.
Send him down to Illinois. Brown's defense can't be any worse than the defensive job Moe and Curly (the two co-"defensive" coordinators Zook forgot to fire last week)did the last few years. Plus he can recruit Chicago too!
