Cubs have no plans to release Milton Bradley

INDIANAPOLIS -- Jim Hendry's 24/7 efforts to trade Milton Bradley produced only an endless stream of rumors after his first 72 hours in Indianapolis. So why don't the Cubs just wave a white flag?

"And eat $21 million?'' club president Crane Kenney said. "I've got 21 million reasons why we're not releasing him. If there's any prospect we can get back players who can help us, or save some of the money [to do other things with], why wouldn't we explore that? ... We don't have an unlimited budget.''

Kenney hopes there's a gain to offset the pain of having the damaging 2008 decision hang over the organization for months in 2009.

"We don't run away from our problems,'' Kenney said. "That fact it's painful doesn't change anything.''

Tubby, the Cubs wouldn't win a World Series in a 1 team league. Now they can enjoy "The Backloaded Years". Knock yourselves out. No pun intended.

I've got 22,000,000 reasons nobody wants this gem of a signing by big bellied Jimbo. You have a better chance of winning a World Series. Not!

Phil, find another job. Because you suck at this one.

Great headline, Phil. You're a real pro.

Future headlines for Phil's great work will also state the obvious such as:

Cub fans prove over and over that they have little knowledge of the game. Sam has it correct, Bradley cannot be sent to the minors for anything other than rehab assignments due to his MLB tenure.

He CAN NOT be sent to the minors, and I don't know how anyone with a brain can think this is a possibility. Stop bringing it up.

I dont think Bradley can be designated to AAA at this point in his career.

Who let Phil Rogers cover the Cubs at the Winter Meetings? His sourpuss face reminds me of a newborn baby with a 'surprise' in his diaper.

Send Milton to AAA and let him deal with Ryno. Sandberg will set Bradley straight and teach him "the way the game was meant to be played." Leaving Bradley with Lou is a recipe for disaster.

Why is Crane Kenney still employed by this organization? Can anyone think of one positive thing he has done since taking over as team president?

I have to agree about "humbling him" in the minors. It might actually be good for all of baseball. Send a huge message to some of the other grossly overpaid juvenile delinquent primadonnas.

I've got a plan: start him at Iowa and let him stew there and bask in the purity of the small market, away from media nad so-called hecklers. Then we'll see if he really wants to be at wrigley. See if he can keep his mouth shut and contribute as a teammate.
