Jay Cutler has been named the NFC offensive player of the week for his efforts in Monday's upset of the Minnesota Vikings.

Cutler had perhaps his best game of the season, completing 20-of-35 passes for 273 yards and four touchdown passes to four different receivers. He threw a 39-yard game-winner to Devin Aromashodu in overtime to clinch the 36-30 victory.

Cutler has 23 touchdown passes this season, tying him with Rex Grossman for the second-most in franchise history. Check back this afternoon for some highlights from Cutler's press conference, which will start at noon.

...While the Bears do have one of the weakest schedules in football and did get to play 5 games against some of the absolutly worst teams we will ever see, and further got to play a couple of games against not the worst teams but the likes of SF and ATL, the teams that have really beaten the Bears are the good teams. While the Bears are not a good team, in this league, with this type of schedule you can make the playoffs as a bellow average team.

Next year the Bears will get into the playoffs. They will get yet another weak schedule...

This isn't college football you moron! How many times do I and others have to tell you that the NFL does not tell the Bears who they are supposed to play! Instead, schedule is determined well in advance via division rotation and same-conference teams that finish in the exact same place in their division as you did in your own division. You want to know who the Bears will play next year. Vikings x 2, Packers x 2, Lions x 2, Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, Redskins, Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Bills, Seahawks, & Falcons or Panthers. If the NFL got to pick and they favor the Bears, as you say in your other posts about this, then we would be playing TB, Stl, Cle, Oak, and KC. The fact that we aren't should be enough to prove to you that the NFL has no control over scheduling, but you cannot seem to get it through your thick skull, so I really don't know what to say anymore. Please leave football talk to the big boys, or at least people who went to better schools than Creighton!

Im just done with the comments of all this bitter and ignorant people out there . The truth is ,no matter who ur QB or HB is, everything begins and ends with the play of the Oline and the predictable playcalling of our OC doesn't help the Bears at all . I would love to have Shannahan or Cohwer as HC but lets be realistic; we are not getting any of them, the only changes i think will be made ,new OC ,Oline coach,QB coach , I really hope we can get a new DC since Lovie's D lacks the fire and intensity of years past ( See Ron Rivera D in SD)

Wow Bronco fans and Orton fans just can't handle it when Cutler does well. Cutler has actually had a passer rating above 95 6 times this year and above 100 4 times. Not great but their is something their.

One of the biggest reasons the Bears have not used Cutlers mobility this year is their style of line play. They play a power man scheme and its all downhill. They don't play it very well, but thats what they play. Moving pockets work best with zone schemes where athletic linemen can get outside faster.

Fact is if Cutler plays just a little better against the 49ers the Bears win that game, if the Bears secondary doesn't blow coverage on that one play the Bears beat the Pack, and if the offensive line plays better against Atlanta in terms of penalties, the Bears win that game.

While the Bears do have one of the weakest schedules in football and did get to play 5 games against some of the absolutly worst teams we will ever see, and further got to play a couple of games against not the worst teams but the likes of SF and ATL, the teams that have really beaten the Bears are the good teams. While the Bears are not a good team, in this league, with this type of schedule you can make the playoffs as a bellow average team.

Next year the Bears will get into the playoffs. They will get yet another weak schedule and the Bears as long as they don't bring in Martz will get a good OC and their are a few good ones who will be available like Kubiak. The fact is if the Bears can go from bad to mediocre they can make the playoffs in this league or at least 9-7 like last year. I don't even think the Bears will do much to address the offense, I think they will look for another running back and maybe a RT but thats about it. They will focus on defense once again and the defense will be bad once again. But I can't see them not making the playoffs or at least being in the hunt. If the Bears go 8-8 next year Lovie gets an extension and Angelo gets a raise. The organization is fine with mediocre as long as they make money.

As I have been saying this season to anyone who would listen, Jay Cutler has had absolutely no pass protection, the O-Line is not creating any holes or gaps for the running game and he has been working with a very young set of receivers who continually cut off their routes, with Cutler throwing to where they should be.

The game on Monday night against the Vikings demonstrated Cutler's ability with O-line protection.

It wasn't Cutler who kept Devin A on the bench or inactive all season long. He is the only WR with decent height with surprising speed.

The coaching staff....................I'd dump them all, especially Lovie and Turner. Angelo can go bye-bye as well. Bring in Shanahan or Cowher.

wow you guys are really bitter...

woohoo Bears beat the Vikings we are going to the playoffs yay oh wait were 6-9 dang have to wait until next year

I never thought I would read something like this, Cutler NFC offensive player of the week. Is this the same Cutler who a few weeks ago had a rating of 7.something? Unbelieveable.

The season is over, the bears are buried, the pressure is off- and the JayBaby is a "star".

Hahahahahahaha!!! Bwahahahahahaha!

Typical Cutler. He stinks!

GREAT GAME!!!Gives me hope for next season

A blind squirrel is bound to find a nut eventually.

Great game despite disappointing season to say the least,
they are re-airing the game tonight on nfl network

Don't hear much from the Cutler haters of late?
