St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports: The Cardinals are still weighing their options on free agent Mark DeRosa before Tuesday night's deadline.
DeRosa's agent expects the Cardinals to offer his client, a Type-B free agent, arbitration.
"We're going to assume it's going to happen, and then we'll take a look at what's the best decision to make," agent Keith Grunewald said. "The more attractive offer, of course, is a multi-year deal. But Mark wants to look at all of his options, and that would include arbitration."
Free agents offered arbitration have until Dec. 7 to accept or reject. If the player rejects arbitration, then he triggers the draft-pick compensation should he sign with another team. He can still negotiate with his former team. If a player accepts arbitration he is immediately added to the 40-man roster and locked into a one-year contract with a salary to be determined by an arbiter.
