Illinois named two offensive assistants to the football coaching staff today and reportedly will hire Kansas State co-defensive coordinator Vic Koenning to fill the vacant defensive-coordinator post.

ESPN. com reported that Koenning will replace co-coordinators Dan Disch and Curt Mallory, who were demoted last week.

On the offensive side of the ball, Florida Atlantic quarterbacks coach Jeff Brohm will join Illinois in the same role, and Louisville assistant Greg Nord will coach tight ends. Both formerly coached with new offensive coordinator Paul Petrino at Louisville.
"I am very excited about these hires," Illini head coach Ron Zook said. "Both Jeff and Greg are considered two of the best in the business for what they do. They are proven and have worked in this system with Paul (Petrino). Their comfort level with the offense gives me great confidence as we move forward with improving this football team."

The staff additions come on the heels of four assistants being fired at the end of last week.
