Jake Fox feels Cubs underestimated his ability

ESPNChicago reports: Jake Fox, traded by the Cubs to Oakland on Thursday, said he enjoyed his stay in Chicago, but feels general manager Jim  Hendry underestimated his abilities while he was making his way up through the system.

"Naturally, I always thought I should have been a little higher than I was, and he always told me, 'No, you're right where you need to be,' " Fox told "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on WMVP-AM 1000. "So we never really saw eye-to-eye."

Fox said he figured he had no future with the Cubs after a postseason meeting with Hendry, who felt the defensively challenged Fox would fare better in the American League.

"He even told me, he said, 'Look, I couldn't look myself in the mirror and know that I was holding your career back,' " Fox said.

This is so typical it is beyond itself. The one person needed trading NOW, immediately, the first one gone is Bradley, no questions no nothing, just gone and we trade the potentially best hitter in clutch situations we have. And wtf is this about his defensive shortcomings. He played 3 positions as well as the people who played them. His outfield play was BETTER than Sorryanos, and his 3rd base was better than average. Of course he's gone, what a great way to start the off season. Bradley and Sorryano should both be out of town as soon as possible. Sorryano is lazy and everyone who has hever played the game knows it. But this is the cubs. The general public has better insite than the GM's.

I have to agree with Fox. I think this is going to blow up on Hendry just like trading Kyle Orton did with the Bears. I'm finding it harder and harder to support my Chicago teams. sigh....................

Well this confirms 2 things... Jim Hendry is a nice guy, and a bad GM.

Oh please, dont portray Fox as a bad guy, he's just being honest. He destroyed the minors for 2-3 seasons and barely got any chance. Cant really blame him for some frustration. Its actually been a pattern for cubs stalling prospects , fox isnt the only one.

Fox has always valued himself higher than anyone else. Remember in Lou's first spring training Fox marched into Lou's office and demanded more playing time? I wish Fox the best of luck in Oakland, but I have a feeling this guy has a huge ego and hopefully won't rub people the wrong way from here on out.

You have to give Hendry credit for being a decent guy, on this one. He didn't have to make this trade.
At least the memory of Miles, is gone.
That was like the military spending $1,000 for a toilet seat.
