Sprained ankle likely ends season for Knox

A source close to Johnny Knox said the Bears receiver suffered a sprained, but not broken, left ankle during Monday night's 36-30 overtime win over the Vikings. The rookie is not expected to play against the Lions in Sunday's season finale at Detroit.

Knox was carted off the field after a 31-yard kick return with 1:12 left in the third quarter.

With Knox unlikely to play and Devin Hester still recovering from a calf strain, the Bears could activate rookie Juaquin Iglesias for the final game. The third-round pick from Oklahoma has not played all season.

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!

@M Piper

First off, it's Jeff not John. Maybe you should correct yourself before you try to correct someone else.

OK so he was a 3rd rounder...Does that make it a better/smarter pick? Are you telling me there weren't better players available? 2nd round , 3rd round... that doesn't change the fact the Bears can't evaluate talent at the WR position.

Rideau probably would have been a better option but you can't cut a rookie 3rd rounder can you?

Just so we get this straight, John from Stockton, Iglesias is a 3rd round pick who was considered a reach by most. You should get your facts straight before you tell the bears how to do their work.

I'd like to see what the guy has, but the deal is Cutler hates him. In camp Iglesias went up for several balls with one hand. Culter apparently told him to work harder not to do that. Iglesias did it a few plays later and cutler told him if he did that again he would never thrown him the F ing ball again.

Fort will be back. And better next year. He was a project coming into camp but played well for a ROOK.

Get well Fort!

I am convinced the Bears have no idea how to evaluate talent at the WR position.

Hester is not a #1 WR

Bennett is have a decent but not great season after not playing as a 3rd round pick last year. He only has 2 TDs

Aromashodu, when given playing time, has shown flashes of great potential as a #1 WR but barely played until week 14.

Now Iglesias "might" get on the field next week? A 2nd rounder should have been starting or at least getting decent playing time from day one. That's why he's a 2nd rounder. If he's not good enough to get on the field before the last game and only because of injury, he's wasn't a smart pick. We probably could have picked up a decent O-lineman or corner with that pick.

And please quit with the WR screens. Let Cutler air it out. On two of the deep tosses, Knox and Aromashodu had their man beat but the throw was off. Those misses will be big plays next year.

You didn't trade for Cutler so we could be a "running team". Get him a solid line and another receiver who's consistent and we'll be all right

I'd rather see them re-sign Brandon Rideau!!

Sad to see Knox's promising season end on an injury like that. I think a full offseason working with Cutler will help enormously in getting them on the same page, and a sprain rather than a break or torn ligaments means he can start in 3-4 weeks to run again. if he gets the reads and sight adjustments down, his speed should be a great asset to this offense in 2010 out of the slot.

I think if we activate Iglesias, it will be with the intent of seeing if he can take Rashied Davis' role on special teams. He might get some reps in 3 and 4 WR sets, but for the most part, he will be the backup to all three spots on the depth chart against the Lions.

He is another bigger target, but is not as fast as Aromashodu, so he could be a good 3rd down receiver down the line. I guess we will see whether he can hack it or not.
