USA Today reports: Tiger Woods' popularity is dropping by record amounts, according to the latest results of the USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. Woods "favorable" rating dropped to 33 percent in the latest poll conducted this week vs. 85 percent from his last poll in June 2005. His "unfavorable" rating surged to 57 percent from only 8 percent four years ago.
Woods posted the highest popularity rating in poll history -- 88 percent -- when Gallup first measured him in 2000. There is a woman named Jamie Jungers who claims that Tiger spotted her in a crowd and told her how beautiful she was and that he just had to get to know her. They then went on to have a passionate affair. This obviously shallow woman claims that she was in bed with Woods when he received word that his father and mentor had passed away.

1)Skill
2)Athleticism
3)Mental Toughness
If you only guage sports based on athleticism then sure you will think that golf is not a sport. However if you account for the two other aspects then golf is a very tough sport indeed.
Some football positions (eg. Linebacker) are very high
on athleticism, not so high on skill, pretty high on mental toughness.
Golf is one of the highest in terms of skill and the highest in terms of mental toughness.
If I was going to rank sports in terms of difficulty I would go with
1) Tennis (high skill, high mental toughness, high athet)
2) Golf
3) Basketball (high skill, very high athlet, mod mental)
4) Baseball (primarily for hitting. Hitting a baseball is the toughest action in sports)
5) Football (5th because there are a lot of positions on the team that only need atheticism.)

Yes 80 year olds can play , but not very well. 80 yr olds can play any sport, but not well at all. I am a professional golfer who as a junior was a nationally ranked tennis player and a high school basketball point guard who started as a freshman. These affairs do not add up to being "mistakes." They represent a pattern of behavior that is reprehensible both to himself and his wife, but especially his children. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's scum, because Tiger has done a lot of great things both for the sport of Golf and for charities, but clearly this is not just a simple discretion or mistake. This is deliberate and unconscionable.
People are overeacting to what Tiger Woods has done. Admittedly he made mistakes, but then who doesn't. I am sure a number of men and women have secrete love affairs otherwise we wouldn't be having the problem of aids that we are currently having.
