It was a groin issue that sidelined Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa for Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Ducks.
The veteran will be back in the lineup tonight when the Hawks look to snap a two-game losing skid as they host the Blue Jackets at the United Center.
In a refreshing turn of events, Hossa openly discussed the injury today after the morning skate.
With NHL players not obligated to disclose the nature of injuries, some relish in keeping their maladies secret. And then there's Hossa.
"Before the Minnesota game (Saturday night) when I woke up I felt a tightness in my groin," said Hossa, who has 11 goals and 10 assists in 23 games this season. "In the third period it was getting more tight and was getting tired. The next day it just tightened up on me and me and the trainers decided to be smarter and not push it--especially with three days off afterward. It wouldn't have been a smart decision to go (Sunday night). I had a good time to heal, two days without practice. Definitely the groin feels much loser and better.
Defenseman Cam Barker (upper body) was again on the ice but will miss his fifth consecutive game. Jordan Hendry will again replace him.

I loved the way Hendry played.
