Staff report
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner will announce his retirement at a news conference Friday, according to a report by David Kaplan of the Tribune and WGN.
Citing a source close to the situation, Kaplan reports that the 38-year-old quarterback will call it a career despite having led the Cardinals to the Super Bowl last season and back to the playoffs again this season.
The two-time MVP and four-time Pro Bowler has passed for 32,344 yards and 208 touchdowns in a 12-year career with the Rams, Giants and Cardinals.
Warner has expressed health concerns since suffering a concussion -- which was at least the third of his career -- earlier this season.

I think the Bears should offer Kurt Warner the Offensive cordinator QB coach They could fill 2 spots with one coach, and A darn good one for sure. One thing he could teach the current bear QB is how to read defenses, that alone would cut his interception rate in half.
The hall of fame should open the doors to a player of his accomplishments and character. Best wishes to healthy future.
I know him personally and I can tell you that without a doubt he will NOT come out of retirement. He has many great things he plans to do with his life (that I'm sure he will want to share) and a family that he wants to enjoy.
But this day will be hard on his family and very close friends. I have been close to him since high school and have watched him play for more than 20 years! (I wouldn't never want to estimate how many games that is!!!!!!!).
So no worries...He has played his last game and will stay retired.
Best of luck, a real class act and role model kids and other NFL players could look up to.
What a total class act. Kurt Warner deserves a Hall of Fame spot and a happy retirement. Pro football has lost a giant.
A concussion is one of the best reasons in the world to retire from football. Medical researchers are increasingly discovering all the consequences of concussion. At age 38, Kurt Warner could have a long, healthy life ahead of him, to use his many talents in other pursuits. I wish him well.
I certainly hope that if he is going to retire, he stays retired, not like the drama queen up in Minnesota. If he is doing this merely to sign with another team (say, the Minnesota Vikings, should the drama queen finally decide to start the clock on his HOF induction), I will lose all respect for Mr. Warner.
