The South Bend Tribune reports: Notre Dame Athletic director Jack Swarbrick commented about the Michael Floyd situation. Floyd was cited for underage consumption of alcohol after his involvement in a fight on Jan. 8.
"It's one of the byproducts of being a student-athlete. There are students at this university who go home for break, and something happens that never becomes known.
"There's a good side of fame and notoriety, and there's the bad side. And this is a case and situation where that circumstance for virtually any other student wouldn't be known or reported. But because he is who he is, it attracts attention."

Thank you so very much for this. We're in the process of revamping our website (specifically we're trying to add more functionality and interactivity), but we were hesitant to add comments directly our articles for fear of them bogging down the article content. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much.
Hey, joe, how do you know he doesn't tote guns and take drugs?
chris. grow some balls and go have fun!
As a student of Notre Dame, I want to point out how this is bulls**t. If I were to go home drink underage and beat someone, rest assured that I would be in trouble not only with the law but with Notre Dame. This is stated in Du Lac our student handbook. But because he is an athlete here they smooth everything over for his a**. I take offense to his comment that other students do this nothing happens; well actually worse happens because the university isn't there to smooth it over for us. I hope that Coach Kelly has the decency to punish Floyd by having him sit out on spring practice no matter what the consequences are to the team. But I am sure that won't happen because he is a golden football player. Punish the kid condemn what he did it was against the law; don't teach him that it is okay because you are an athlete.
really who gives a damn?? its the offseaseon, home on break, a little drinking is better than toting guns or rape or drugs etc. etc.
