Niemi to get next start in goal for Blackhawks

Antti Niemi will get the start in goal for the Blackhawks when they face the Blues on Wednesday night.

Niemi had been Cristobal Huet's backup the last three games after being yanked after yielding three goals in the first period of the Hawks' 5-1 loss to the Canucks on Jan. 23.

"(Niemi) hasn't played in a while," Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "He had a tough period in Vancouver. It's a chance for him to get back in the net. Huet played some good games as well, (but) it's a chance for (Niemi) to get back it.
"Antti had back-to-back games on the (road) trip and deservedly so based on how well he was playing. Huet had some games in a row because he won some games and I was comfortable putting him back in there. I'm looking for a response from Antti from his last game and we'll see how he responds."

Quenneville said Dave Bolland "is very likely to get in the lineup" Wednesday.

The center hasn't played since undergoing back surgery in November. During Tuesday's practice, Bolland centered on the second line with Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa.

Winger Andrew Ladd left Tuesday's practice with a lower-body injury, but could play against the Blues.
